Kargai Posted December 23, 2017 #1 Posted December 23, 2017 Like we spoke on this forum about the hack of Nicehash ( https://forum.stake.com/topic/3043-nicehash-hacked/ ) it's nice to speak alos about the possible resolution of the problem. 4700 BTC were lost during the hack but NiceHash promise to refund every user who was impacted by the problem and the wallets will be restored. It's definitely a good news for the users who lost their funds. Source : https://www.ccn.com/bitcoin-mining-marketplace-nicehash-back-online-promises-users-money-back Now I can't help myself by thinking that maybe (just maybe) it was still an inside job, they sell the BTC at high price few days ago and buy more BTC in the recent drop. Free BTC, so they can refund people like if nothing happened. But maybe i'm just paranoïd
Snike Posted December 23, 2017 #2 Posted December 23, 2017 If it wasnt an inside job how the heck did they come up with 4700 btc that they're now kind of throwing out the window?
Ymerej Posted December 23, 2017 #3 Posted December 23, 2017 yaaah .. I was thinking its an inside job too ... 4700 BTC is so hard to recover, and now they be giving back the lost btc of the users in less that 1-2 months from there data breach

Maybe you are not paranoïd, and maybe you are right but that's true, they also made profit if that happened Best wishes, Have a nice day and happy holidays to you and your family
wilberthh Posted December 23, 2017 #5 Posted December 23, 2017 Oh well it could be but unlikely I think?? Anyways this is a good news, glad for those people!
kurian Posted December 23, 2017 #6 Posted December 23, 2017 Omg that might be true.. because 4700 BTC is a huge sum.. smells something fishy..
enhuush Posted December 23, 2017 #8 Posted December 23, 2017 Thank you for the sharing news Kargai! Great news
rack001 Posted December 23, 2017 #9 Posted December 23, 2017 Nice Kargai thanks for informing again!! I found a way to mine Electroneum using NiceHash , but wasn't able to try it due to the reason that NiceHash is down . Will be trying it out now ! It is also great to hear that they refunded all of the coins, which makes them more trust able to work with . Hopefully will start mining with em and might profit too!
Kargai Posted December 23, 2017 Author #10 Posted December 23, 2017 Like I said maybe i'm paranoïd but imagine the scenario : they "steal" 4700BTC claiming a hack, they sold them at 18.000$ (the price 48 after the hack) => 84.6 millions $ they plan to put the blame on hackers and don't refund anything, than they saw the price dropping hard lately. they buy back 4700 BTC at 12.000$ => cost 56.4 millions $ they let people know that they will return the 4700 BTC (they didn't say nothing about that before) In total they made 84.6 - 56.4 millions : 28.2 millions directly in their pocket Plus they recover a nice reputation for being nice and refund people. Plus they'll still run their businnes in the future (who could have never recover after the hack). Win + win + win. 3 times.

I didn't think of this before But since now you said it, it does makes sense
barbaris Posted December 23, 2017 #12 Posted December 23, 2017 This is good information. They value their users and it's commendable. This is now a rarity.

Then buy back in dirt cheap and give back btc at 40 percent lower value...
