BigBroYo Posted October 10, 2020 #1 Posted October 10, 2020 So I’ve been thinking for a while now how it would be awesome if it was possible to cashout on mines and get your wager amount returned before selecting any tiles on the Stake Original “Mines.” (Voiding the bet, obviously) I can’t tell you how many times I’ve either accidentally started a bet with the wrong settings, or just simply didn’t want to follow through with a placed wager and instinctively tapped the cashout button expecting to cancel the bet. I don’t think enabling a user to void their own bet and cashout exactly what they wagered before selecting a tile would in any way affect Stake negatively. Quite the contrary, I think if Stake allowed this many users would observe the simple convenience and the Stake Original game of Mines would become undoubtedly superior and preferable to all other competitors’ versions. Just my 2¢ on how to add to the many instances of Stake being the first to do something and then rising to that something’s industry-leader as a result of superior development and execution. Let me know what you think, and thanks for reading! 🙂
SLFJ Posted October 10, 2020 #2 Posted October 10, 2020 My opinion on this is quite the opposite, if you aren't careful with your money and you don't know what you're clicking then it is completely on you to follow through. Voiding the bet however would end you in a 0.99x/1.00x, which would effect the racing negatively because everyone would just autobet on it, because they'd have nothing to lose and they still make the wager.
BigBroYo Posted October 10, 2020 Author #3 Posted October 10, 2020 That’s very obvious and not my point, it isn’t about “who it’s on” or fault of any kind. This isn’t a suggestion for an idiot fail-safe, lol. I’m referring to a function more like how you can cancel a bet made on crash before the game “starts,” where in the case of mines the game would not start until you select a tile first. The term “void” means to declare invalid and not binding, which means it would cause it to behave as if the bet was never placed to begin with.
Nightcrawler Posted October 10, 2020 #4 Posted October 10, 2020 You're essentially asking for a refund on a bet that you started, whether purposefully or by accident. This is equivalent to playing at a live casino, playing single deck blackjack (where sometimes your cards are dealt face down), and then you tell the dealer "nevermind, I didn't look at my cards yet so please retract my bet." Facts are, just because this is an online casino, shouldn't give users the ability to cancel bets that they started. Some games like Live Roulette, Baccarat, or Blackjack have a timer to allow you to place bets and withdraw the bet. But after that timer is up, it states "no more bets". In, Stake Originals, the way the games are set up, each bet placed needs a winning or a losing result. Adding in the ability to cancel/ void/refund bets would be pointless and massively unnecessary work created for something used so seldom. 99.9% of people who place bets, intend to place those bets.... we aren't in kindergarten...
defrostbyte Posted October 10, 2020 #5 Posted October 10, 2020 I can't tell you how many times I have hit the x2 bet button by mistake instead of the 1/2 bet button and wished this were something that was possible in those moments - but it doesn't happen often enough to have ever thought suggesting it. That, and it normally works out for the better in my experience. It probably won't ever be a thing though. It is up to us to be mindful of what we are doing with our money. If I'm in so much of a rush to play that I don't pay attention to the risk level, bet amount, etc. Then chances are I'm gonna bust fast anyway, or I probably should be occupying my free time another way until I can be calm and pay attention to what I'm doing. That aside I'm sure there would be a way to exploit it for races, wagers for better reloads/rakeback/vip level...
