KYC To do, or not to do ?

There's a rumour flying around the chatbox that Stake is introducing KYC for bonus & withdrawals.

Is there anyone who can confirm or deny this ?

If true:

How can players from restricted areas complete this process ?

Posted

I would agree for people with several accounts.

But for people with one single account,  Is this necessary ?

And how is this going to work for peeps from restricted areas and users of VPN's etc.

Is there a link where I can read the notification about this

lol if you’re admitting on the stake forum you play from a restricted area. 👋 👋 account.

If you’re living in a restricted area....don’t risk playing here imo.

What Confuses me is the definition of a restricted area.

I'm aware that in a few countries you can get locked up for providing gambling services & others where Cryptocurrencies are sternly frowned upon. It's completely understandable that Stake do not want (or need) players from these areas.

But there are some restricted countries that get a mirror site to get around regulation while others (where Stake has, placed their own restrictions) get kicked out, even though there are no country restrictions,  perhaps maybe a few regulatory requirements.

I would imagine all customers are important

No I'm Not from a Restricted Area, But if I moved house 10 Miles North of here I would be.

To not.

Recently  ledger's database got hacked all the sensitive info is out in the open. Crypto Reddit is in uproar, people have fallen victims to phishing attempts  and some have even been threatened apparently.

The simple question is do you trust stake to keep your data safe. And what recourse would they offer in case their database  do gets breached.

For me, its better to not share that info in return for few coins. Your privacy shouldn't be cheap.

there's good discussion happening on bitcointalk about KYC in general.

Wow  @TheGreenTree What an explosive discussion on one of the most trusted crypto-forums.

Opening post  is very long, but extremely informative.

After reading this topic, can I ask Stake management to find an appropriate solution to these verification issues.

No Website is 100% secure. In the past week we have learned than the very heart of the USA Government's so-called nation security  has been accessible & indeed, hacked for the last several months.

I'm all for the prevention of illegal and terrorist activities.  But the provision of personal information is not the answer.  I certainly do not want my Identification documentation and driving licence/passport numbers made available to anyone, including, hackers and Government departments (which is the direction we are slowly moving toward).

To do definetly! More rewards by being verified, totally worth it!

Is it worth an extra few $$$ in the short-term...   YES

If someone was able to access your Data (not saying Stake isn't safe) and steal your identity..  Absolutely ..  NO
