Thoughts on Sportsbook promotions

Guys what are your thoughts on sportsbook promotion.

1. Do you prefer the challenges to be

1st, 2nd & 3rd prizes and so on....

Or 

2. A prize pool that are to be distributed equally amongst the eligible players.

Personally I prefer option 1, it gives me more hype to compete with my fellow gamblers .

I would reckon a prizepool would be nicer , sharing among the other players participating  and the 1st 2nd and 3rd is not really fair what about the other participants?
