Kargai Posted December 25, 2017 #1 Posted December 25, 2017 Sony recently filed a patent for contact lenses that record and store videos with the blink of an eye. In crypto we speak about smart contract, Sony is about 'smart contact' lenses. They'll be build with a camera that can record, play, and even store videos right before your eyes. http://www.sciencealert.com/sony-just-filed-a-patent-for-contact-lenses-that-record-and-play-videos-with-a-blink-on-an-eye They are not the first ones since Google and Samsung already filed that kind of patent (with a difference, Sony plan to add an internal storage mechanism) so it seem inevitable that those contact lense will be a reality one day. Meaning every person you will cross the path in the street will be potentialy filming you even if you don't want it. A real nightmare, i'll have to take some eyes out ...
Snike Posted December 26, 2017 #2 Posted December 26, 2017 I find it super cool that these companies really think about making these technologies which would've been written off as a "hoax" 10 years ago. Its crazy to say that theyre almost reality now And about the point of being filmed. I dont think it would matter. Because youre being filmed everywhere already these days. I dont think it would be a disadvantage for these camera-like things.

akki785 Posted December 26, 2017 #5 Posted December 26, 2017 That's called science, which makes impossible things. Really excited about it. Can't wait to see it happens.
Support Katarina Posted December 26, 2017 Support #6 Posted December 26, 2017 Thank you for sharing this with us @Kargai ! I found it utterly interesting. I think this is a wonderful news for those who have issues with short-term memory and dementia and they will most definitely find this handy. They can just replay a certain event or a whole day and boost up their memory. On the other hand, knowing that we don't need to memorize anything anymore may lead to the let's say, deterioration of our brain cells or synapses. Thus, instead of helping us improve, it can draw us a step back. Maybe I am overreacting, but I am not so thrilled about all of the technological improvement. Still, I truly hope this invention will make lives much easier for many people.

kurian Posted December 26, 2017 #10 Posted December 26, 2017 Sci fi movies are going to be real soon.. This is the one like in the Tom Cruise movie Mission Impossible.
barbaris Posted December 26, 2017 #11 Posted December 26, 2017 Damn. It's incredible. I used to see this only in films. And now this is reality. It's terrible to imagine what the world will look like in 100 years and what people will come up with during this time.

I'm totally amaze by the technological part of the invention but on the other hand I also believe that it need to be use for specifics usages like those you mentionned. But it will never be. It will not be financially interesting to limit the tech to only few people. Same with smartphones, those who REALLY need them are a minority. Most of the users don't really need them at the first place, the need was just created by the marketing. And now users are dumber and dumber, relying for everything on their phone. Once I saw someone who seemed lost in the street because she couldn't have wi-fi for Google Maps, she walked around for minutes searching a network ... instead of asking directions to another "real" person (it was a crowded place).
