Oh Inaya! oh Inaya! Dédicace à ma fille inaya
falcon06 Posted May 17, 2025 #133 Posted May 17, 2025 Not a song but a poem? 😃 If … If you can keep your head when all about you Are losing theirs and blaming it on you, If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you, But make allowance for their doubting too; If you can wait and not be tired by waiting, Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies, Or being hated, don’t give way to hating, And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise: If you can dream – and not make dreams your master; If you can think – and not make thoughts your aim; If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster And treat those two impostors just the same; If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools, Or watch the things you gave your life to broken, And stoop and build ’em up with wornout tools: If you can make one heap of all your winnings And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss, And lose, and start again at your beginnings And never breathe a word about your loss; If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew To serve your turn long after they are gone, And so hold on when there is nothing in you Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’ If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue, Or walk with kings – nor lose the common touch, If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you, If all men count with you, but none too much; If you can fill the unforgiving minute With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run – Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it, And – which is more – you’ll be a Man my son!

Ladyurlia Posted July 11 #138 Posted July 11 For me sad lyrics hit way harder than happy ones, like Bon Iver’s “Holocene” makes me feel nostalgic and small in a beautiful way but happy lyrics can just feel forgettable after a while. Michael Jackson’s message is solid for motivation but honestly the deep emotional tug of something bittersweet is what really stays with me.
ivoryesse Posted July 11 #139 Posted July 11 The Man in the Mirror always hits me because it flis the whole idea of change onto yourself first, which is both empowering and kind of heavy. It is rare for a pop song to be that introspective without sounding preachy.
krxaeienne Posted July 11 #141 Posted July 11 if you need a quick mood boost, play the chorus twice and actually sing along even if its badly
Quilllyn Posted July 11 #142 Posted July 11 That line really hits hard because it makes you face your own role in things instead of blaming everything else.
sylynxen Posted July 11 #143 Posted July 11 honestly i just zoen out and let the beat tell me how to feel, lyrics come second
jax5fn2on3 Posted July 12 #144 Posted July 12 tbh man in the mirror hits different when you're trying to be better fr ?
ace80tqx Posted July 14 #146 Posted July 14 Man in the Mirror is such a classic pick, it really does make you stop and think. I remember my dad would blast that song every Sunday morning while he cleaned the garage, and I didn't get the lyrics then but now they just hit different after a rough week. What else gets you besides MJ?
