Earlier I had a post deleted from a thread and was given the following warning with a 'permanent point'.

The post was in this thread:

Here's a screen shot of the posts that @MilicaR had issue with:

If you check out the thread, you'll see I was having an honest conversation and putting effort into making thoughtful posts.

I discussed this with @MilicaRand in addition to telling me "it's not allowed to post links to other websites", they also cited rules about plagiarism, cross posting, 'merely copy pasting', and promoting other platforms.

I feel like I was making a positive contribution to the community, and @MilicaRmade a mistake.

Either way, I just want to know - do you guys not want me to make posts like this anymore?  I'm not interested in causing problems or posting where I'm not wanted.  Only looking for some clarity here:

Is it against the rules to post links to other websites?

Was my post spam?

Was my post plagiarism?

Did my post violate any of the forum rules and guidelines in the stickied thread from this sub?

Hi Dupeddonk,

First of all, you should not take this personally. Nobody said your posts were meaningless. On the contrary, you've been contributing to our community in a great way. However, like I explained earlier, cross-posting (from one forum to the other one), sharing links from other sites as well as posting articles is forbidden and we do not tolerate it. You posted an article and the bitcoin forum. Therefore, I gave you 1 warning point but didn't restrict you from posting here. I just want to apologize to you for choosing "spamming" instead of another category. It happened by accident - my bad. Feel free to read our forum rules again. Here you go:

Hope I cleared up the reason behind giving you the warning point. Thanks for your understanding.  Continue contributing to this family, just omit links please. See you in chat.  Have a nice day. 😊

All the best! 🤞

Hi MilicaR,

The Forum Rules and Guidelines clearly say "The publication of links to fraudulent and hacker sites and resources that distribute viruses and other malicious programs is prohibited." but I'm not seeing anywhere that we can't post articles of any sort or any links at all to bitcointalk.

I think the spirit of the rule is to protect players from being tricked into visiting a malicious site, or from the forum being used to commit crime, or for Stake competitors to use the forum to promote their own business.

Bitcointalk in a way is part of Stakes roots (through Prime Dice and Stunna).  Even now, stakes provably fair system uses bitcointalk as a third party host to prove their Crash and Slide results are provably fair.

Of course there's tons of garbage over there, but there's also mountains of useful information.  Forbidding users from posting relevant links to that forum would go against the transparent ideas that made Stake what it is today.

And no posting articles period?  Seriously?  This can't be a rule.  Think about it.

Hi once again Dupeddonk,

Glad to talk to you again.

Well, you can write on the same topic only if that's not merely copy-pasting but if you share links or articles not really. As for the BitcoinTalk  you are right, it's a part of our provably fairness. Also, we have this rule: "If you receive a warning from a staff member, then you need to take it into account what happened and ensure you don't do it again."

It was nice talking to you, dear. See you in chat. Have a nice evening. 😊

Best regards! 🤞

Looks like monitoring software may have flagged that post.
Reading the post its clear that the member was offering genuine help and the links are relevant.

So its a little unfair to apply a penalty simply because the monitoring software is ineffective at distinguishing between genuine posts and spam.

Since the payment for posts stopped, there aren't many who put time and effort into the forum. If stake value those who contribute in a meaningful way, then this is not the way to show it.

I am going to support you. I have seen the post and most of the cases when you have such a debate there is no way to support it without copy pasting technical parts or just linking articles.

"I discussed this with @MilicaRand in addition to telling me "it's not allowed to post links to other websites", they also cited rules about plagiarism, cross posting, 'merely copy pasting', and promoting other platforms."

"Quote from Dupeddonk above"

Plagiarism is one of the worst Crimes you can commit when dealing with the written word.

However Providing you acknowledge the original author, you cannot be plagiarising as you are merely citing a section of his written word.

You have covered yourself here by providing links to the original work (in this case, a post on another site).

This has precedence over any other written rule/guideline as it was the only way to acknowledge that you are posting the original authors work in good faith, and showing your readers that you are citing someone else's work.

I'm not arguing here that it's ok to post links "willy nilly" on posts that are only written for the purpose of promoting somewhere or something else. It's Not, And should not be tolerated. But when links are needed to prevent plagiarism or the common good, the author should be allowed to do so

Almost 100% of authors will agree that committing plagiarism is by far more intolerable than posting a link acknowledging another persons work.  (that's me in trouble yet again)

Good Luck

Hi once again Dupeddonk,

Glad to talk to you again.

Thank you for unlocking this thread @MilicaR

I think it should be clear by now that I didn't plagiarize anything.  None of my posts were 'merely copy-pasting'.  I didn't spam.  I didn't post links to ' fraudulent and hacker sites and resources that distribute viruses and other malicious programs is prohibited.'  I didn't break any of the rules you've cited.  There's a screen shot of the posts you deleted in the OP of this thread if you need to refresh your memory.

And since you told me that sharing links from other websites isn't allowed over a month ago, I haven't, and it's been kind of a pain since there have been several times that sharing a link or a quote with a citation would've allowed me to contribute more to a thread.

Could you (or any mod... @Dan ?) please let me know that I'm allowed to post links to other websites, and that I don't have to worry about being banned unless they actually break the rules:
