I just read a post on Youtube which made me Pause for thought.

** Watford FC  shirts get sponsored by stake.com **

** Watford FC  Play Soccer in the English Premiere League **

** Stake.co.uk soon to launch in UK **

** Stake.com forbidden for players from UK **

** Only Stake.co.uk available for UK players **

**  Stake.com sponsors Watford FC shirts **

Anyone spot any future problems here ???

Anyone from the UK will be automatically redirected to stake.co.uk

Is that a given using geo-locating ?

Or

Speculation, albeit quite sensible speculation ??

No problem, I was trying to find out as much as possible before launch, to try and get some affiliates signed up from the UK. Unfortunately, it's going to be totally separate from stake.com, due to the strict gambling laws there.

Tell me about it !!

I live less than 5 miles from the Irish/NIrish border.

I often get picked up as being in UK, Had to get a VPN to stop it. Though I was also being picked up as being in USA as well (3000 miles away).  lol

I believe it's all still pending, stake have yet to gain a u.k gaming licence. stake.co.uk will also not feature stake "originals" which makes us question the legitimacy of them on the Curacao version of the site. I guess this is why the recent demand for verified accounts has been present as of late,  in an effort to help them obtain it.

Personally i think its a poor move by stakes marketing team to advertise a low end team such as Watford. Also with it being a fresh site that uk residents will of never heard of, It will hardly bring in the customers in when they already have well established sportsbooks such as williamhill and betfred already in function over there

yeah, exactly.

As far as i'm aware you need a base in Gibralter or the Isle of Man to operate online in the UK . Even the Irish sites Paddy Power etc have an office in Gibalter.  Pokerstars Head office is in the Isle of Man.

Cyprus is another one which can licence for the UK, though this is extremely expensive & at least one person named on the licence has to be a permanent resident.

lol first, i wanna thank stake for teaching me about a new team. But the hiatus with the uk players is quite wrong and even if stake.co.uk launches will be a big dilema for all the providers not available in uk and people trying to run arround with vpn's.

btw, regarding getting a licence in gibraltar or isle of man. It's quite easy. Myself i helped someone to get a licence in gibraltar. I don't think you are about to spend more than 20-50k gbp.

trully looking forward to see how stake will handle it

Me too.

My guess is, they will use a white label skin & piggy back on one of the platforms already in the UK, a licence may not be required for this (not sure), but multiple accounts would be a major NO NO...

Interesting to hear that and pretty nice for people from the UK to be able to legitimately play on stake soon too. I wonder if there is a way to get this done for US players too, that would open up a big potential market of new players.

USA  is a different story Jackson.

Some bastard attached a clause to another bill banning online online gambling.

the house voted it in without knowing the gambling clause was there as it was slipped in secretly (as far as I know).

overnight poker etc got banned and operators were arrested. I they were outside USA, they were put on a wanted list.

There's more to it than this. but as much as i can remember off the top of my head..
