CaptainLorca Posted January 31, 2018 #1 Posted January 31, 2018 Hey fellas, I faced the problem with the BitPay invoice. The recommend different wallets on their site: https://bitpay.com/pay-with-bitcoin When you paying with bitpay and you don't use such a wallet.. there is a little workaround I just found on Bitcointalk: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2642207.msg29154496#msg29154496 When you use bitpay, you usually getting an address like this: bitcoin:?r=https://bitpay.com/i/ORDER-ID That doesn't work with the most wallets. Didn't work with mine (blockchain). So, the post on Bitcointalk says that you use following trick: You have your BitPay address bitcoin:?r=https://bitpay.com/i/ORDER-ID And you use that ID on this https://bitpay.com/invoice-noscript?id= Which would look like this then: https://bitpay.com/invoice-noscript?id=ODER-ID That opens following window: It looks that way, bc I already paid it. But when the invoice is not paid.. you'll get the Wallet-Adress where you have to send the given amount (also displayed at that page). Don't fuck this up! The amount that is given there, is the pay-amount! You still need to add the transaction-fee on yourself! Also... doing this is on your own risk! The best would be to use a wallet they recommend!
wry Posted February 1, 2018 #2 Posted February 1, 2018 I really don't understand why Bitpay mandated this new way of paying. I read their announcement and just don't buy it. I can do simple sums. Thanks for the work around, not sure I'll use it, easier just to be down on Bitpay. I hope they get some serious competition soon.
CaptainLorca Posted April 19, 2018 Author #3 Posted April 19, 2018 Actually this workaround doesn't work anymore.. I also couldn't find another way. I switched to a bitpay wallet instead. They have different wallets they work with them. If you use one of them or the bitpay wallet, it should be no problem at all!
wry Posted April 19, 2018 #4 Posted April 19, 2018 The really interesting thing, was just a couple of days ago I went to load some money onto my bitpay card and the BITPAY wallet didn't work! I was like WTF, this company could mess up a wet dream. Fortunately, the Bitpay wallet would send my coins somewhere else, so I cashed out elsewhere. I don't know what Bitpay is thinking, but glad it is working for you right now.
CaptainLorca Posted April 19, 2018 Author #5 Posted April 19, 2018 Dunno how that wallet actually works.. doesn‘t seem like you‘re downloading the blockchain. but I saw in the mobile app, that it’s linked to coinbase.
AlexK Posted June 27, 2018 #6 Posted June 27, 2018 I had the same issue and made a quick app to fix it: https://alexk111.github.io/DeBitpay/ It extracts the transaction requirements (bitcoin address, amount, min tx fee) out of Bitpay invoices (the same way the supporting wallets do), and enables to make direct transactions without moving bitcoins to intermediate "supported" wallets. Hope it will help.
