bellapelle Posted February 1, 2018 #1 Posted February 1, 2018 BAGUIO CITY- my hometown... also known as "THE SUMMER CAPITAL OF THE PHILIPPINES" due to its cold weather and it's considered as one of the most popular tourist attractions in the Philippines. A Kankanaey term, "Panagbenga" means “a season of blooming.” This famous festival comes with many events including STREET DANCING (opening and closing of the festival), FLOAT PARADE- where different participants showcase their best floats made of real flowers. There would be a lot of different activities like band exhibition, CANAO, trade fairs and many others but my favorite one is the "SESSION RD IN BLOOM!" (which I'l be making a separate topic about that soon- because I want to show some photos of me eating street food ahahaha) Today, February 1, 2018 is the opening parade which marks the start of the 1 month long celebration of this prestigious festival. But Like most Baguio peeps, we prefer to stay at home to avoid traffic and crowd lol so we just watch it live on tv. But we see to it that we go check the FLOAT PARADE AND STREET DANCING This year's theme, “Celebration of Culture and Creativity” will focus and showcase the creativity and culture of the Cordillera Region, (by the way, another thing to be proud of: Baguio City was named as one of UNESCO’s Creative City for crafts and folk arts joining the 180 network of creative cities.)
