Do you shovel snow yourself if it's too much in your yard?
  We once had to call snow plows to clear our yard so we could go outside).
 Now we are thinking about hiring some kind of snow removal service.
Is there anything you can advise in this situation?

Bruh call snow plows why, buy the shovel and do it yourself its 30min max work and its actually good workout I do it every winter almost every day.
