wilbur Posted February 23, 2018 #1 Posted February 23, 2018 what's the difference of rotating your seed or putting a name on your desired seed? as far as i know rotating seed will make you go back to your last seed and putting a name on your desired seed will completely get different seeds correct this pls
Dan Posted February 23, 2018 #2 Posted February 23, 2018 Rotating seed is only for the server, you can't choose the server seed. Naming a seed is for the client seed, that is only available and set by you.
wilbur Posted February 23, 2018 Author #3 Posted February 23, 2018 so rotating seeds and picking your own seed name is just the same?
Neverever Posted February 24, 2018 #4 Posted February 24, 2018 picking seed is like an extra layer of guarentee that the RNG is random as the server cant decide the seed for you.
rack001 Posted February 24, 2018 #5 Posted February 24, 2018 There are 2 seeds which are used together to calculate the outcomes - server(secret) and the client seed . you can only rotate (change) the server seed as it is not shown to the user.the previous one is revealed when you rotate/change it . client seed is which you can set yourself and is known to the user . As they are used together to calculate the roll , so changing even one of them would affect the rolls .
