Kargai Posted March 14, 2018 #1 Posted March 14, 2018 Stephen Hawking died today at 76 years old. If you know the story of this guy he was a huge example of someone who beat the odds against him. He had Lou Gehrig's disease, that gradually paralysed him over the decades, loosing the ability to speak and basically everything else. But he still managed to be named one of the 100 greatest english people in the history, he was theoretical physicist, cosmologist, author and Director of Research at the Centre for Theoretical Cosmology within the University of Cambridge. Recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian award in the United States and so on, so on. I read his best seller A Brief History of Time back in the days (need to re-read it) and it's awesome how he made complex theories (string theory, black holes, ...) in such an comprehensive way.
