This keeps me wondering everytime I open Coinmarketcap if btc goes down the following altcoins go red too but not all. Are all altcoins mostly directly proportional to Bitcoins pricerun? Is bitcoin have that so much affect on them?
Other altcoins I observe that is not affected are those with only low total supply.
In your own opinion? :)

Bitcoin is the first cryptocurrency as well as the base currency on which most of the cryptocurrencies are purchased.  The chances are that most owners of altcoins will very much likely own Bitcoin. Most exchanges use bitcoin as the base currency for trading. Therefore a change in Bitcoin price may influence other altcoins as a result of using Bitcoin as base currency. Another factor is the Market cap of Bitcoin is a lot more than other coins. An indication that a lot of people use Bitcoin in transactions. This will influence other coins. This is only a personal opinion.

Bitcoin is like the president of the crypto nation. If his value gets decreased or manipulated, he will drag other smaller coins with it too. Also most Bitcoin holders are the same who are holding large chunks of altcoins. So when they panic sell or panic buy, they do it with all coins thus there's seen an uniformity in price flactuation in bitcoins and other currencies. However for like coins with relatively smaller market cap or like less popular coins, when they get listed to and exchange, they get boost up because people panic buy. So all this depends on the market condition and thinking of purchase and seller, basically demand :)

You've got the point there, nice observation ;) the hodlers also really matters and affect the price.
