As Of right now, I can't think of an altcoin that can surpass or even get to the levels of BTC.

Mainly, all coins/tokens will be dependent to BTC as they go along soo..

I believe it will be hard to see a coin taking the place of BTC.

First the coin will have to be the "gold" of crypto, a coin people can buy directly with FIAT money and that they can trade directly. For example now if you want NEO, most often you need to buy BTC/ETH/LTC before to trade them. So to replace BTC you need 1st a coin you can buy easily "everywhere".

Than you'll have to make the coin more expensive. And it will be related to the total supply. For example ETH will have a more higher total supply. More coin = potentially less valuable. And BTC have a low supply if you compare to the other well known cryptos as ETH, LTC & co.

So it's definitely a long shot, lots of people take bitcoin as granted for the future so that has to change first. But that's not impossible. There is already some coin with a higher price than BTC, they are just not use enough, technologicaly strong enough, etc.

I think a tonne of coins will in the future, but not for a long time.

It seems that every time bitcoin goes down in price every single alt-coin in the world goes down in price too.

And every time bitcoin goes up in price, every alt coin in the world does also!

Like they all just play follow the leader with bitcoin.

In the future when the markets are more stable and the coins that offer some great innovation and technology are valued at what they are worth, instead of what kind of a percentage of bitcoins market share they have, I think many coins can outperform bitcoin xD
