Way back, gold price was manipulated. Same as today with btc. See the price of btc going down? Higher people are just accumulating more btc while people who do not know what’s happening are selling it while it is in its low. They thought that it already reached its ultimate high but let’s wait and see what will happen to btc at the end of the year.

People tend to use hyperbolic terms to anything they consider seeing like time is so precious as gold; so time is gold. Since btc just poop out of nowhere having a big value that shocks many, maybe they call bitcoin as gold for its unimaginable price with really no valuable asset.
