GalaxyGo Posted July 16, 2023 #1 Posted July 16, 2023 Hey everybody. I would like to discuss with you whether the Monopoly image and the games built on it at Evolution Gaming are legal? I used to play Monopoly a lot in my childhood in the company of friends and I liked it very much, and often I remember these times with nostalgia, as we gathered with friends almost all day long in this board game, although as an adult I understand that it is a stupid and little variation board game). But still its image causes me strong emotions (and I think such people are not few, as this board game is one of the most popular in the world. I will say that in life I am a gambling person, but I absolutely do not like this trait of my character and I have been fighting it for many years and quite successfully, but in the past I lost very large sums in this very Monopoly. But when, for example, I see an advert for this game on TV, the presence of her friends or when I want to download an application on the phone and there pops up mobile Monopoly, then willy-nilly all these associations cause a desire to play in online casinos and it is in Monopoly from Evolution Gaming. Why am I saying all this: The board game itself is a children's game and it has no age restrictions (or in some countries from 8+ years) and the owner of the Monopoly trademark is a large corporation for the production of children's toys Hasbro. The Monopoly board game is still loved by children and teenagers as it was many years ago. And the question itself: Do you have such associations with Monopoly? And isn't such a ploy by online casino operator Evolution Gaming an advantage for young people? Are moral standards respected here? Is it legal? And is it possible to make this fact known to the general public and maybe even sue for compensation from the owner of the trade mark or the live casino operator? I have suffered very significant losses because of this game and for a very long time I could not stop playing it. I don't want to say that it is entirely their fault, of course I am responsible for all actions, but still I think the factor I described above also matters

I meant that the mark Monopoly is used in many children's board games, and if you interpret it more correctly, then it turns out to be an advertising campaign also for children + it is one of the most popular gambling games. Evoulution Gaming operates in the jurisdiction of the European Union and there are very strict rules regarding gambling advertising. In general, it is possible that this is just pulled by the ears Anyway thanks for your answers!

I understand your point of view and it's true that it may attract children, but it's parents' duty to control what they are doing. Monopoly, Uno, Rummy and such games are ageless.

Most likely you won't hear back though. I had better success asking the relevant twitter handles publicly about stuff (much higher response rate)
