wry Posted April 25, 2018 #1 Posted April 25, 2018 Ugh! The hits just keep on coming. In a debate sponsored by Intelligence Squared, Draper and Overstock CEO Patrick Byrne got bested by an editor from the Financial Times, Gillian Tett and Law Professor Eric Posner. On the question of if Bitcoin has a bright future and is here to stay, after listening to the debate the crowd, which had been split 50/50 before the event, moved to 32 to 68% against Bitcoin after the debate. I guess it should not surprise me too much that the side with a law professor won a debate, but based on the write up they won along familiar lines, e.g. criminals and volatility. I would think someone who had sunk some real money into Bitcoin would be ready for those lines of attack by now. I had hoped lots of the lines of attack would really be about ICOs, which I do believe have lots of issues, but it looks like they stuck pretty close to Bitcoin. Here's the write up of the debate: https://www.marketwatch.com/story/business-moguls-beaten-in-bitcoin-bubble-debate-2018-04-23
