Helps to understand the odds and how the numbers work.  36 numbers = 1:36 odds, plus zero.

You win a lot more direct on a number, than if you say, bet on 'red'.  (which is even money win)

Pick a variety of your favorite numbers, and stick to them.  When I first started playing I'd switch numbers a lot, then the numbers I was just on, would hit.  My rule of thumb is my favorite 7 numbers and zero.

If you just want to chat, and have a drink, then bet on the sides which are in the range of 1:3.

Budgeting is important.  Leave yourself room to spin a while, if you put your entire bankroll on one number, you may not be playing long at all.  The more spins you can endure, the more you can win if you get on a roll.  In real life roulette, you tell the dealer how much you want your chips to be worth, they mark it and you play.  So, diversify your bet and make your bankroll last.

If you bet on 1 number and it lands you get paid 36x your bet amount. There are 37 numbers on the roulette wheel. The reason you don't get paid 37/1 is because that extra number is the house edge
