If a machine has a 10% house advantage, then the average RTP will be 90%, meaning that over time the machine will keep about 10% of all money bet and will return the other 90% to players in wins.

But this doesn’t mean that if you play for 1000$, you will end with 900$, as the RTP is over all Players and Spins made - not only you.

A very simple Example with RTP of 90%:

100 People are playing the same Slot with each 100$.

99 lose the initial 100$

1 player hits a big Win of 9’000$ -> RTP successful at 90% (10’000$ in Total minus 10% house advantage)

Remember:

The RTP is calculated over millions of spins, so in the end you will definitely lose money and maybe hit a big win once in a while if you are very lucky and lose it again :)

I have added a Graph which visualizes RTP of 97% vs 100% - hopefully this will help you to understand it better.
