The usual suspects like Brazil, Germany or Spain ? An "outsider" like France, Argentina or Portugal ? I don't believe we will see a big surprise this year so I betted on Brasil (who didn't win the last 3 world cup). Usually the coutry who organize the event do well in the competition but this time Russia is the worse team of all, 70th team in the world. So if they qualify to the 1/8 finals it will already be good for them.

Why you may ask? Look, all the good teams with good players are LOSING. The world cup is turned around. Wouldn't be surprised if someone like Senegal won it lol.

Philip74 Posted June 25, 2018 #9 Posted June 25, 2018 In my opinion, there are no clear favorites this year and the differences among the teams are quite small, with a few exceptions (cough cough Saudi Arabia, Panama). How Panama knocked out USA in the qualifiers is beyond me. This year I would like to see an outsider winning the cup, such as Belgium or Portugal, however I think one of the big ones will win again. Even though we have VAR technology, some obvious mistakes are still made, in favour of more popular teams (for example Germany-Sweden a clear penalty was not given in favour of Sweden and red card to Germany). Overall, very interesting tournament, so far.
