In my city, sapodilla trees are always associated with haunted trees. At first I didn't believe it, but it's true. One day, around 2 a.m., my neighbor was leaving for the market. He saw from a distance a 7-year-old child coming out of my gate. He tried to call the child by approaching him, but suddenly the child disappeared, while the gate was still tightly closed.
A few months later, when a friend visited and stayed over, the little boy appeared again. As my friend fell asleep, he pulled his legs under him. Well... some of my other friends saw him near the door. I think the little boy's ghost felt uncomfortable with the presence of strangers.
I've never actually seen it, I just sometimes feel its presence. Evidence of some missing items, even though I've put them back in their place, then they return to their place. People say, maybe the little ghost borrowed it.
Before my great grandfather died, he once told me that the little ghost really existed. When my great grandfather was young, the little ghost liked to be mischievous and disturb people, so a powerful shaman tied him to a sapodilla tree (at that time it was still a garden and had not yet built a house). My great grandfather's message was that as long as we don't disturb him, he will also respect us.
