A Small Way To Combat The A$$holes who impersonate (copy cat accounts)

So after some jerk off made an account that looked identical to LillyFlow only the l was changed to an I which is an i capitalized.  So I decided to beat the scammers to the punch.  I  went into a private browsing session and I made an account for every variation of my own name that I could think of - and I will never ever play on them, but now the usernames are no longer available so that is one less chance for the bozos to pretend to be me.

I hope this is not considered a violation of any of the rules. I did it only as a matter of prevention.  Even after doing this I saw someone in chat at the same time as me named LillyFolow handing out tiny tips - it is the only reason I noticed at all. I was shocked to see myself tipping people like that - because ... it was not me.  That account is now banned and subsequent acts of abuse or fraud will be met with full bitch mode. Watch out mofos. lol

As I mentioned previously, I would give my last serving of rice away to a hungry peer without hesitation. I would share my umbrella in the rain.  I tip HUGE to my friends that tip back.  Why do people have to go to such great lengths to avoid trouble

I dont think this is againts the rules because you protect yourself and other stake users. Should i make an account for my self to with the L? Because i got an i in my account name..

I think changing to a font that's easy to tell those characters apart would be a quick patch. Perhaps one with serifs. Other than that, they could give each account an unique ID code, that identifies them.

An ID code is not an bad idea.. This would be solve the problem because we can check if people are fake or not. Maybe you should post this suggestion to the admins? :)

I think anyone should do it if they have a name that would be easy to fake, Tlmvz could be easily mistaken for your name. So yes. Do it , Or they will - and you will find out that "you" suddenly owe people for loans you didnt get.

Yikes!

I think it is smart how slack does it. All usernames are lowercase only. Now I know why!

I posted on their suggestions site, but it doesn't appear too active. Uncertain if anyone will see it, but here goes nothing.

@Lillyflow Agreed. That lower case solution, slack has, is simple, and would also work great.

Well.. i think you are right lilly! I will do this when stake is back up again :)

Great way to be proactive @Lillyflow!  That is a clever thing to do, but scammers gonna scam.  I think the easiest solution would simply be for Stake to change their font so that capital I does not look like lower case l but there will still be those that use similar spelling, e.g. Lillyfloow.

I can see the scammers in this instance picked on the wrong user!!!!

im sorry you went through this lori...
im wondering though why would the person who did it do that?
but yeah, once again sorry for the experience....
i was once muted for 2 weeks (then reduced to 2 days) cause someone impersonated me and told a mod to do very nasty things and insults.....
impersonation can be very bad.. and not allowed of course

A new trend I am seeing.

Random user asking  :  " Is Lillyflow here?"  or "Is @GodLoft here?  Or @wilbur etc etc etc ... even though it may seem innocent, we should all watch for this.  When someone said " Is llilly here" the otherday I purposely did not respond- to test a  theory.  Sure as shit when I did not respond in comes "LillyFolow" .  Tipping stupidly low amount to my closest friends and I immediately pointed the impostor out and they were banned  x

I think the innocent, randpm call out of my name was to test if I was here or not - to summon the alt that is my look-alike.

Make sense?

What do you think  @wry @Kate @77kdub @bmg @Bigmann23 @Darko @truemeng @nadiya14 @ravenyvolle2 @athena2007 @anonnep

Lilly and I, well, Lilly mostly, when she doubts for any reason if im me, has a short list of questions to

prove I am me... <<<Grammar check Lilly lolol.

That said, it is usually obvious, if you pay any attention to anything at all, to spot an imposter account,

but it doesnt hurt to have "safe" words with friends, for sexy time and account verification purposes.

"for sexy time" ... lol right on Badger! Who is this lucky with you?

You are absolutely right about safe words etc.  We do have a little checklist lol !   I had not even realized.  It would never work if someone would try to impersonate you  because nobpdy would know of the past life stuff  lol.

Love you!

makes a lot of sense mom @Lillyflow.

well.. if im sending tips / loans to friends with a decent amount.. i check 2 things...

1. the stats

2. i mostly send it after checking PMs. checking if i had previous convo with the person.. :)

Not everyone manages to get a username of their own choice. Unless a case of intentional begging / scamming by misrepresenting comes forward, could be they like the name that you opted for as well. I too never get the same name on most site and intentionally keep changing them to a small or high degree.

Well in my case they even copied my avatar, and snuck a capital i where an L goes and talked as if it was me.  scam, for sure.   you are right though, it wont always be an alarm. coincidences happen too.
