There is an edit option but, what if we posted something twice due to network error or accident. If we add a delete options there is no need for mods to come up everytime to sort it out.

I remember of @Dan saying something about people (scammers) using this option as a way to remove proofs against them (at PD forum already)

But in some cases it is better to be exceptional. I have an idea. What about delete option disappears when the post or comment is flagged or reported.. On the other hand we could easily remove unwanted posts by us while it's not flagged.

Yes, just report the topic you need deleted and we will do it for you, deleting on your own can lead to many problems as @Carollzinha already suggested
