At 4 AM on Easter Sunday, our barangay (village) gathers for Salubong (“Meeting”), reenacting the Virgin Mary’s joyful reunion with the risen Jesus. A statue of Mary, veiled in black, is carried by women, while men bring a statue of Christ adorned with flowers. When the veils are lifted, hundreds of white doves and confetti explode into the sky!
