Why don’t posts always pay? When short, 2 sentence replies to a post pay a couple hundred sats, why would starting a new topic not?

I think there is an algorithm to determine the quality of your post, as well as how many reactions and reply's your previous posts got. Also, not every section of the forum will pay for posts. For example, the Forum games section does not pay per post, because it is just for fun and doesn't benefit others when you post.

I know that, lol. I’m talking about the ones that are a new post, with great content that pay 0. I should have been more clear.

I guess that you didn't hit the minimum words for a payment or you got the section wrong. I think that there are sections that only posts are rewarded and sections that only topics are. Check out if you've got any points in that section previously, if not, then you won't get paid there.

Which section of the forum did you post it in? I can quickly check if that specific section pays per post.

Yeah the General Off Topic Discussion section doesn't pay you because it's more of a social "chat" where people comment back and forth, bouncing ideas and thoughts off each other. SO it does not matter how good your post it, you won't get paid to post there

There are certain areas in forum that do not pay for creating a topic. Selected areas  only are paying.
