williamshennie9 Posted October 2, 2018 #1 Posted October 2, 2018 Hey everyone I just want to find out why sending personal messages on the forum counts towards the number of posts you can make in a day? For example, I was chatting to a user over PM on the forum, and before I knew it, my 30 posts for the day were finished. I would love to hear a reason for this, as these messages don't get shown publicly on the forum, and therefore won't increase spam if the 30 post limit did not apply to personal messages. The pay-per-post also doesn't apply to to PM's made on the forum, so I'm really curious as to why it counts towards your daily post limit. Just something I started thinking about I would love to hear everyone's opinion about this.
Jakubb Posted October 2, 2018 #2 Posted October 2, 2018 I think that it's because, hmmm. Just no, i guess it's a bug, no way in any shape or form it's supposed to be like this. @Dan check this out. I'm pretty sure it's a bug.
irawk0 Posted October 2, 2018 #3 Posted October 2, 2018 Never knew this since I never used pm much. Should be a bug, or we'd be limited to the number of pm's which is just stupid.
meggiemegs Posted October 2, 2018 #4 Posted October 2, 2018 I would hope this is a bug but regardless i'm sure will be fixed because that would just not make sense lol. Sucks you hit your cap for that day also.
EddieFx Posted October 2, 2018 #5 Posted October 2, 2018 I hope this will get fixed, its probably a bug and when they find out about it they will fix it!
ravenyvolle2 Posted October 2, 2018 #6 Posted October 2, 2018 Yes , personal messages here are included on our daily limit posts. But in my opinion, it shouldnt be added and counted separately.
Dan Posted October 3, 2018 #7 Posted October 3, 2018 This is how the core coding of the forum works. To change this might take me a while. The main reason it counts is because people have been known to send mass amounts of phishing style PM's to everyone. With a limit on that, they can't efficiently get away with that type of abusive behaviour.

Perhaps a limit can be set for one message per person to address this? If the person needs to send the same message to multiple people, they can just copy and paste the message. And then I don't think spam will be such a problem, especially if you have the 2 minute buffer in between PM's
