0.28 BTC is a large sum of money. I heard that there are a select group of people that own 99% of all bitcoins in current circulation. How true is this? It seems almost to good to be true that I am part of the top 1% if I only have 0.28 BTC in my wallet

Hey bro, I did. It doesn't say the percentage of people who own the largest shares of bitcoins. But, yeah, I understand the math behind the top 1%, if you own 0.28 BTC

It is pretty cool to be inside the top 1%, but that's it.. just a "title" you "bought" with money, so it isn't that useful. I guess that it might be more useful to be in that 1% with the most BTC profit

Ouch, sorry for your losses, I hope you get them all back.

Bitcoin not being widely distributed and concentrated in a few people's hands is not a good thing.

Not surprisingly, the article's headline is very misleading, if you take the entire supply of BTC and divide by the worlds population you get the .28 number.  It's not tied at all to the current distribution of BTC.
