rizz22645277 Posted Tuesday at 06:35 PM #1 Posted Tuesday at 06:35 PM Hey Stake Community, I want to open a dedicated discussion thread on Stake Poker. Whether you are playing casual cash games, grinding tournaments, or trying out the different variations available on the platform, I would love to hear your experiences. Let's discuss a few key points: The Competition: How do you find the player pool? Are the tables generally softer compared to traditional poker networks, or are you running into tough competition? Rake & Rewards: What are your thoughts on the rake structure and how poker gameplay contributes to your overall VIP progress and rakeback? Software & UI: How is the overall performance for you? Do you find the multi-tabling interface smooth, or are there specific features you think the developers should add? Drop your favorite poker variants, your biggest tournament cashes, or any bankroll management tips you have for grinding on Stake. Let's talk strategy!
homwyy2 Posted 23 hours ago #2 Posted 23 hours ago Tbh, the player pool is softer than most dedicated poker sites I've tried, but the rake feels a bit steep unless you're grinding enough to hit decent VIP levels.
voxus Posted 21 hours ago #3 Posted 21 hours ago Tbh I've had a similar experience, the micro stakes tables are full of people punting stacks but the rake does sting a bit when you're not running deep in VIP.
sandix Posted 21 hours ago #4 Posted 21 hours ago Tbh I've found the same, the micro stakes are a goldmine for value but that rake is painful when you're just starting a session. Multi-tabling feels smooth for me though, no major lag even with four tables up.
myxki Posted 21 hours ago #5 Posted 21 hours ago Yeah micros are a goldmine for sure, people just hand you chips. But man that rake eats small pots alive, I only really feel good about it once I hit platinum.
sydneyyx Posted 21 hours ago #6 Posted 21 hours ago Fr, the micros are wild, but I've noticed the player pool dries up real quick once you move up to mid-stakes. Mostly just regs sitting there waiting to bumhunt.
legacylyn Posted 21 hours ago #7 Posted 21 hours ago Yeah, the micro-stakes are basically a donation center if you’ve got half a clue. But you’re spot on about mid-stakes being a ghost town, it’s just the same five nits circling each other waiting for a fish to sit down.
Nalorenne Posted 20 hours ago #8 Posted 20 hours ago Tbh the mid-stakes reg infestation is too real, it's like they've all got a sixth sense for avoiding each other and only open when a rec sits down. I stick to micros for the chaos, at least the rake feels less painful when you're stacking a maniac every other hand.
wrenelle Posted 20 hours ago #9 Posted 20 hours ago ngl the mid-stakes regs are something else, they all just sit there with their HUDs refusing to play each other. I stick to micros too, at least the action is constant and you can actually stack someone with a dumb bluff.
zexyn Posted 20 hours ago #10 Posted 20 hours ago Tbh that's exactly why I rarely leave the micros anymore, I'd rather deal with the rake than sit at a table with four nits staring at each other for an hour waiting for a fish to splash.
maxs5603ncj Posted 18 hours ago #11 Posted 18 hours ago ngl, hitting good hands at the micros feels like free money but that rake realy cuts into profits lol ?
Lilyolzyl Posted 18 hours ago #12 Posted 18 hours ago I actually think the rake critique is a bit overblown on Stake, especially if you are grinding for VIP progress. Yeah it stings in a vacuum but the rakeback and level up bonuses offset it way more than people give it credit for.
Synkamia Posted 15 hours ago #13 Posted 15 hours ago Hav you noticed if the player pool gets tougher during certain hours or is it pretty steady?
lyrairyth Posted 15 hours ago #14 Posted 15 hours ago I see folks saying the micros are the only place to play but I actualy think the low stakes cash games are still pretty beatable if you table select well. The rakeback does help a lot but you still need to dodge those tables with 3 regs just sitting there like statues waiting for a whale.
frostolesse Posted 14 hours ago #15 Posted 14 hours ago I think calling the rake fine because of rakeback misses the point, it still kills action in the games I've played.
Frankioress Posted 14 hours ago #16 Posted 14 hours ago Honestly the speed poker variant pays out so fast I almost forgot about the rake entirely.
Emberixmia145 Posted 14 hours ago #17 Posted 14 hours ago haha my first session there I stacked some guy who was literally playing every hand and I thought I found a goldmine... turns out it was just 3am on a tuesday
wickan Posted 8 hours ago #19 Posted 8 hours ago i once folded kings preflop against a super nit and he showed aces after, felt like a genius but honestly he only played like 4 hands an hour so it was obvious
irisorund Posted 3 hours ago #20 Posted 3 hours ago I sat down at a 5nl table last week and watched a guy donk bet every single street with bottom pair and somehow river a two outer against my top set, I logged off for the night after that. Honestly the swings are wild but the player pool has enough casuals to make it worthwhile if you just stick to solid fundamentals.
novaraeon Posted 2 hours ago #21 Posted 2 hours ago I actually dont find the multi tabling that smooth, it gets clunky with 4 tables and the bet slider lags which cost me a pot last night. Maybe its fine for 2 tables but calling the UI smooth is a stretch.
Havenorlia Posted 2 hours ago #22 Posted 2 hours ago do you guys find the player pool shifts alot depending on time of day? i swear weekday afternoons feel super nitty then friday nights its just pure chaos
