Etude Posted July 1, 2019 #1 Posted July 1, 2019 Hey everyone! I would like to pose this question to all Bitcoin enthusiast as to how often do you actually purchase things with Bitcoins? For example such as for shopping, purchase of video games, entertainment and services. With the price volatility happening everyday, your purchasing power often keeps changing with the Bitcoin price. So do you just mainly use Bitcoin for the purpose of gambling or do you frequently use it for purchases too? (As in without changing in into fiat currency but to purchase things with Bitcoin itself)
GRLaux Posted July 2, 2019 #2 Posted July 2, 2019 I've never purchased with bitcoin - I've only recently started gambling it as well. I do a lot of options trading with crypto, but I just cash out to my bank account when I want to use some of the money. I wouldn't even know where to buy things with crypto, and I never really thought about it before ... but now I'm going to go look
CntryBoy Posted July 2, 2019 #3 Posted July 2, 2019 I mainly use crypto for investments/trading as well as gambling. There aren't a whole lot of places yet where I am that take crypto as payment. I do you a debit card that I can load with crypto, but I mainly only use it to play and invest.
cointikka Posted July 2, 2019 #4 Posted July 2, 2019 I have not bought a single goods or services using Bitcoin. I only use it to buy other cryptos or gamble with it. I use it more like an asset than a commodity. I am aware of Bitcoin marketplace like https://openbazaar.org/ where you can buy and sell goods without paying any platform fee. But, have not used it. I plan to do some purchases using Bitcoin in the future.
Sped Posted July 2, 2019 #5 Posted July 2, 2019 I don't really purchase anything with bitcoin as I will withdraw it and transfer it straight to cash, so i wouldn't be able to asnwer this, however I usually buy food and shit that I need from day to day when I get cash from my btc withdraws.
williamshennie9 Posted July 2, 2019 #6 Posted July 2, 2019 I've never made a purchase for something with bitcoin before. In my country, it seems like a lot of people just don't accept bitcoin yet. If you want to spend it, you'll have to convert it to fiat, and then spend it.
Paecga129 Posted July 2, 2019 #7 Posted July 2, 2019 I have never made a purchase with bitcoin either. Very hard to do where I am from and I don’t know if I have ever seen anything for sale by bitcoin. I guess by trade I have seen.
3kpk3 Posted July 2, 2019 #8 Posted July 2, 2019 I usually purchase certain game keys through various resellers online(G2A etc) using BTC where fees are quite low and transactions don't take too long. I have not used BTC to complete an offline transaction yet though.

I won't buy many games with my bank account, but I probably would be more into it using crypto.
Qvvaser109 Posted July 2, 2019 #10 Posted July 2, 2019 This is a good question..... I have not earned USD or fiat as my main source of income for 5 years now. Only recently did I start to even accept USD for payments again. It's still rare though. So, to answer your question. Every day.
CaptainAAA7 Posted July 2, 2019 #11 Posted July 2, 2019 I never used bitcoin to buy any stuff.. Bitcoin is banned in my country.(India) I used bitcoin only for gambling...
polor12 Posted July 2, 2019 #12 Posted July 2, 2019 there are some online store that accept bitcoins as a payment.. i order my ps4 pro flat screen and my alien ware at the same site.... and now the value of btc has risen pretty high i try not to spend as much... just hoarding as much as i can. until i have enough to make a big trade.. my goal is almost there.. just few more to go.. and everyone would know when that time comes.. because that will be last time ill be on,.,,
GKD09 Posted July 2, 2019 #13 Posted July 2, 2019 Tbh I have never even tried purchasing with the BTC I had. I actually didn't think it is that widely used or if I had a wide range of things I could purchase. I always tried to convert to USD and then find a way to get it to one of my cards, and then use it to purchase from anywhere I ever wanted to. Like @cointikka mentioned a site, does anyone else know any site they have used to purchase, products or services with BTC? As long as its sites you have used and could be trusted. It'll be of great help! 22 minutes ago, polor12 said: there are some online store that accept bitcoins as a payment.. i order my ps4 pro flat screen and my alien ware at the same site.... Could you share that site, if you don't mind.
nattekut Posted July 2, 2019 #14 Posted July 2, 2019 I only do purchases with bitcoin or other crypto. Depending on what I purchase I pay with crypto directly or indirectly. Some goods I pay instantly with BTC but for every day purchases and paying bills or groceries I use my crypto debet cards.
Kingcashedout Posted July 2, 2019 #15 Posted July 2, 2019 I hardly ever purchase anything with bitcoin ....i use it strictly for gambling or other stuff that 8 dont feel like leaving a paper trail behind

I will usually through some Bitcoin on my Bitpay card and then I can use the card anywhere Visa is accepted, so that's pretty cool. Although I usually won't go out of my way to buy Bitcoin just to to store on my Bitpay card and buy things. Especially with the transaction fees so high it makes want to avoid Bitcoin altogether but it will always be my favorite crypto.

You need to transact only with the best resellers with high ratings in order to avoid the chance of getting scammed. I never got scammed by sticking to these rules everytime.
pinguoin Posted July 2, 2019 #18 Posted July 2, 2019 I always use btc now to Buy from internet if the main website doesnt offer it i simply find one that offer it even if its a Higher prices
cryptonesiac Posted July 2, 2019 #19 Posted July 2, 2019 I used to buy a lot of stuff with bitcoin... as much as I could... but lately I'm just holding. Maybe once bitcoin has gained enough, I'll buy more with it again
FotisNt Posted July 2, 2019 #21 Posted July 2, 2019 Like everytime I get a cool win in there. Rarely but already bought many cool stuff out of stake.xD I might also purchage stuff online using btc which I frequently do. Love this way of transcation.
Kate Posted July 3, 2019 #22 Posted July 3, 2019 To be honest there arent enough sites that sell physical items for bitcoins so that is a bummer but for things like game cds and all i like to purchase with bitcoins its easier. I purchase like every week or so.
Mateusz Posted July 3, 2019 #23 Posted July 3, 2019 Never did actually, but I heard some shops accept that, and I'm about to buy ledger/trezor in the future so i'll probably pay in bitcoin for that. I'm hoping to see some big companies like mcdonalds/kfc to accept btc so I could spend my winnings on damn food
Aazzah Posted July 3, 2019 #24 Posted July 3, 2019 I never purchase with BTC, I normally cash it and convert it to my paypal. I then can convert that into my bank then buy stuff... Or, just purchase things using paypal. I have bought with btc in the past but i prefer to do it in paypal or bank.
aleksey1826 Posted July 3, 2019 #25 Posted July 3, 2019 It's no secret that money transfer services such as Western Union and Moneygram are imperfect. These companies often make international transfers within a few days, and at the same time charge a huge fee for their services. Bitcoin, on the other hand, allows anyone with access to the Internet to send any amount of money anywhere in the world, making a transfer in a few minutes, and the fee for the transfer will be just tiny, regardless of the size of the transferred amount.
