Snike Posted November 27, 2017 #1 Posted November 27, 2017 One could argue that investments are gambling...so is bitcoin gambling in your opinion? What do you think?
wilberthh Posted November 27, 2017 #2 Posted November 27, 2017 Bitcoin is not a gambling lol But we can use bitcoin for gambling. EDIT: I think bitcoin could be a gambling, because we don't know when will the price drop or rise. Or when it's going to crash......................
Snike Posted November 27, 2017 Author #3 Posted November 27, 2017 Just now, wilberthh said: Bitcoin is not a gambling lol But we can use bitcoin for gambling. But how do you know the "bubble" doesnt pop when investing. Nothings guranteed so its gambling...
David Posted November 27, 2017 #4 Posted November 27, 2017 I believe it is, pretty much any investment is. Bitcoin especially could easily collapse or rise like crazy at any moment.

My insight on this I feel like gambling means that you do something with a little bit of risk and if you loose you loose something valuable like money. so I feel like it is a gamble
wilbur Posted November 27, 2017 #7 Posted November 27, 2017 invest: the outlay of money usually forincome or profit gamble: to play a game in which you can win or lose money or possessions from meriam webster dictionary so I think investing and gambling has a little bit of similarity. but in investing btc I think it isnt a gamble but a good investment. btc go down at some time but btc always go up
remember Posted November 28, 2017 #8 Posted November 28, 2017 like u said: investments are gambling. right. nothing is impossible, everythig has risk.
wilbur Posted November 28, 2017 #9 Posted November 28, 2017 haha yeah. investment has it's own risk . but different risk from gambling. since gambling once you lose you lose while in investing btc if the price is down you can still let it be. and just sell it once it will go up. simple
barbaris Posted November 28, 2017 #10 Posted November 28, 2017 Well, it's kind of a gamble, but not like the others. I'm afraid that at the end of this game the losers will be very much.

What do you think? Investments are a gamble. You take a risk when investing. Right? Having a reward with possible risk (be it minor or large) Is considered "gambling". So yes bitcoin is a way of gambling. Some will argue with me about this but it is a form of gambling, taking a gamble etc. What we do at stake is gambling obvisouly but much higher risk and much larger reward in a shorter time span. I could go on about in general. Did a paper on stocks and gambling addiction few years ago. Anyway cheers.

Olgar Alcoba Posted November 29, 2017 #13 Posted November 29, 2017 As I thought, Bitcoin is not gambling. It is like gold that we mine and money that we use to gamble. We work hard to achieve it.

At a superficial level I totally agree, you buy an investment or make a bet and maybe it works and maybe it doesn't, there is no way to know in advance what will happen. However, I think there is a difference at a deeper level. When gambling we are engaging in a known negative expected value activity, we "should" lose money and we know it. In contrast an investment usually creates some productive entity or activity that has at least some positive expectation of return. For example, I think about other gambling sites where players are allowed to be the bankroll. They are investing, while it is possible for them to lose, they are creating a site where others can come and expect to lose, hopefully in exchange for having fun. In turn, they expect a positive reward. I like to joke in chat about Stunna and his private island, but it's true, he invests, we gamble. Turning now to Bitcoin, it's a deflationary global currency backed by math. I can see buying some expecting it to work out being an investment. Would I put my life savings into it, of course not, but I wouldn't do that with any other investment either. Good Luck!
Ugeller Posted December 8, 2017 #15 Posted December 8, 2017 Bitcoin itself is not gambling, it's a currency like any other.
skywallkee Posted December 8, 2017 #16 Posted December 8, 2017 Investing is gambling, even if it is in gambling or in anything else. Because there are chances to win or to lose what you've invested. You can't know for sure if it will work nor if it won't, but you try to gain some profit (or have fun). But for sure, investing in bitcoin is considered gambling and it was since it all started.
suresh Posted December 16, 2017 #17 Posted December 16, 2017 I don't think Bitcoin is a gambling since one cannot loss all the money once Since Bitcoin value can be something at any stage, however in Gambling one could may win or loss all the money. It is the best time to make money from Bitcoin and it will works more than a year as per my knowledge.
meislucky Posted December 16, 2017 #18 Posted December 16, 2017 I don't really consider bitcoin gambling being a real gambling because you don't invest anything(as in real money).
skillex Posted December 17, 2017 #19 Posted December 17, 2017 For me I consider bitcoin a slight gambling because I can compare investing as a gamble since we all know investments future is not always fruitful or successful right? we are aware also of our losses. As I studied the risk of investing crypto in the web. Some experts stated like Gopal Jiwarajka, President, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry says, “Bitcoin is fraught with risks and not backed by any tangible asset. But the number of investors is still growing, which is a concern.”
Snipergangbaby Posted December 17, 2017 #20 Posted December 17, 2017 an investment is of course a gamble,it to stake or risk money, or anything of value, on the outcome of something involving chance therefore its a gamble.
MakeMoney Posted December 17, 2017 #21 Posted December 17, 2017 I dont think anyone knows if Bitcoin price is going up or downto. So we can obviously say it is a gamble investing in Bitcoin. Everyone that invest in Bitcoin hopes that the price will go up but they cant know for sure. From my opinion Bitcoin might be considered gambling
idonteatshit Posted December 18, 2017 #22 Posted December 18, 2017 Yeah. Well i think bitcoin is a gambling. Investing money is considered as a gambling so well yeah.

But I think it's a low risk gamble, providing you have a stop-loss, of when you want to get out. For example maybe you will say if BTC drops to 12K, I cash out. I think it's important to have a stop loss. Yeah true, nice differentiation of the two twin ,they somewhat differ by just a little matter
ktfor57 Posted December 18, 2017 #24 Posted December 18, 2017 Everything about bitcoin is gambling whether betting, trading or the sudden spikes and falls in the price creating greed, anxiety, fear and all kind of possible feelings
PugLife Posted December 18, 2017 #25 Posted December 18, 2017 Though investing and gambling works quite the same, they two different word with different meaning. Gambling is purely based on luck. Investing on the other hand, though you also need luck in this, you also need to study, check statistics and plan to achieve the goal.
