wry Posted December 29, 2019 #1 Posted December 29, 2019 One of the biggest advantages of Bitcoin is that it is a censorship resistant payment network. Censorship resistance is on the front page today as YouTube "purged" (a nice name for deleted) several educational crypto videos for containing "harmful or dangerous" content. Of course this is totally bogus. While YouTube has admitted the mistake and claims to be reinstating the videos many are still missing. This is exactly the type of unfounded criticism and discrimination of crypto assets that upsets me. Many people have videos of them doing dangerous stunts on YouTube and they don't take them down but a video to help introduce people to crypto is somehow "harmful or dangerous." Bad on you YouTube! Mohrzy Posted December 29, 2019 #2 Posted December 29, 2019 Wow thanks for posting about this probably would of never even heard about it, can’t believe that actually happened though.
cryptofly Posted February 29, 2020 #3 Posted February 29, 2020 When I first heard about this new, the first thing that came to my mind was the fact that Youtube will probably be building its own cryptocurrency in order to jump in the Bitcoin ride and in the cryptoecosyste. Who knows, maybe in the near future, same as Facebook and Telegram, Youtube will create its own coin. Good luck.
Dp10011 Posted March 2, 2020 #4 Posted March 2, 2020 It's an absurd censorship on the youtube platform! I know several channels that I followed for a long time and that the vast majority were punished by youtube for transmitting content related to cryptocurrencies. Censorship! What danger do cryptocurrencies pose to YouTube? There is a lot of ignorance on that platform. This is due to the fact of abuse, because it is one of the only most popular video platforms in the world. But youtube beware, because several platforms are already starting to gain space!
Arbok47 Posted June 17, 2021 #5 Posted June 17, 2021 What do they mean with harmful or dangerous? That people are investing too much or only in shitcoins? Thats not a problem of the content creator.
e_abrams Posted June 21, 2021 #6 Posted June 21, 2021 It happened 2 years ago, hopefully it won't happen again.
e_abrams Posted June 22, 2021 #7 Posted June 22, 2021 Youtube has billions of videos, surely at least some are actually useful?

e_abrams Posted June 23, 2021 #9 Posted June 23, 2021 Do they still not allow cryptocurrency-related videos?
e_abrams Posted July 16, 2021 #10 Posted July 16, 2021 It looks like TikTok is following suit. The platform recently banned any and all crypto and forex promotional videos: https://theforexreview.com/2021/07/15/crypto-and-fx-promotional-material-banned-by-tiktok/

e_abrams Posted August 11, 2021 #12 Posted August 11, 2021 Are they still actively purging these videos?
cuteymascotte Posted February 21, 2022 #13 Posted February 21, 2022 Thanks. Not sure I want to purge anything on Youtube though.

KENDRIK Posted March 9, 2022 #15 Posted March 9, 2022 sometimes I get fooled because of crypto video signals and only care about content and don't care about the losses experienced by subscribers
kriptopoulin Posted March 16, 2022 #16 Posted March 16, 2022 The bitcoin usually move between 38kto 46k and now its on 39k so you dont need to be confues
e_abrams Posted April 14, 2022 #17 Posted April 14, 2022 They have come back since the purge and some of them are causing major problems, apparently - a YouTube cryptocurrency giveaway scam has been exposed by the Singapore-based cybersecurity firm Group-IB. Promising high profit in return of crypto investments has led the fraudsters to leave with more than $1 680 000, although the real amount is not known at the moment: https://theforexreview.com/2022/04/11/youtube-crypto-giveaway-scams-users-with-millions/ The reports stated that these schemers ran 36 falsified crypto giveaways using YouTube streaming services as its main platform. The true scope of the scam is unknown still.
