Many crypto are already doing that. Bitcoin is been use as i type all over the world. You got ether of ethereum is also the favourite of many crypto currency Projects and Traders alike. So could crypto currency replace cash? I think it could. In tge future, cash will be irrelevant in our day to day life because there will be infastructure that will support crypto eadily and cheply too! xD

Crypto replacing Cash is practically Impossible and if it has to happen Governments would fall before that ! Cash gives each country its control over the currency flow and also its centralized on the other hand crypto's are decentralized and no Government would want a decentralized currency for the citizens (which it cannot control)! Cash Flow control is one of the factors that provide sense of power to the governments . Also the Cash is backed by Gold in many countries (in mine it does) but crypto becomes an whole different case , people would be able to evade taxes (loss to the country) , More illegal activities and terrorist funding(It would be more easier to do that) ,Security Issues , more scams if a country relies on only cryptocurrencies ! Also the currency need to be big and will need something to back it up , and doing it on such a large scale , and for soo many people its really hard , and also security would be also a major issue then !

The new cryptocurrencies are getting faster and faster although cryptocurrencies will never be as trusted and secure as banks... although i could see it potentially replacing cash, given some adjustments are made to the system

For crypto to replace flat, I'm sure this won't happen in the near future. Indeed crypto is awesome, but no matter how awesome it is, there is still "fee" on this crypto. You won't want to buy 4$ food with 4$ fees right? xD

It could, not certain.

But due to the fact that the Government wants more power over things they can control, the chances of cryptocurrency replacing fiat is very slim.

My own point of view

Well said. The 'powers that be' would crush every attempt of crypto taking over fiat.

No, it won't replace cash, but it is going to be used together with cash, just as credit cards. It can be a really easy way to pay anything without the need to carry your credit card anymore. All you will need is a phone and internet connection. But it won't replace money. There are places where there aren't even credit cards used, how can you ask someone to use cryptos as a currency, when they can't handle a mouse. Even if they are going to replace cash, the cryptos won't be for sure any of the current ones. Every state or at least someone should implement a new currency that has a small value (accessible enough for everyone) and make a way to buy it without any problem.

To make cryptos work as a currency, there shouldn't be such a big variation of its price as BTC has for example. It would be as hard to introduce as any other new currency in a country and even harder. Let's take euro as an example. In my country, which is Romania, since we got in EU (2007), we still had to wait until 2010 until we saw the first euro in the country and until now we still don't use it at all, it is just accepted by banks to convert it. If it were to introduce BTC, everyone would know it exists at least in 2020 if not later and won't be used either in 2030. So, replacing cash with BTC is a really hard work and I can't even tell so quick why. There are so many things that won't let BTC replace cash...

Crypto currencies would never be able to take over cash, dollar bills and things of that nature is how countries work, thats how they feed on the population and inflation is how the government gets the funds needed for war(even though they have all the money ever needed because they could print more) But if you had cryptocurrencies running the world instead of cash, day to day people would be fine with it but the government would not be making any money or be able to control your money, which means governments would work together to get rid of the internet or put a ban on certain things over the internet.

it will not replace cash even in the future. even in the year 4000. hahaha. Cash nowadays are being put in virtual. Cash can be put in a cellphone by using an app. so no need for crypto currencies to replace cash :)

Or it's exactly why cryptos will replace cash. If both work the same way via a simple app, why not choosing a monetary system which is not linked to an organism and where you have the same currency all over the world (same fees, ... no surprise).

Governments could have their own crypto to make deal between them. Maybe they will not take your money directly from taxes on your fiat accounts but they still can make other taxes : when the product you buy enter the country or leave the shop, etc. They can decide that if they can't take directly from the source ... they will take directly from what you bought. So you'll have more money on your crypto account, but things will be more expensive to buy. Same thing and governments will still make their money. I'm not too concern about that point ;)

Crypto can already be used via a credit card, so in this case too nothing wil change for the end customer.

This thing is very similar to this post:

The result of the discussion was no, it won't in the near future, maybe in a far far away future, when crypto won't be so volatile and can be controlled by governments.
