skywallkee Posted December 20, 2017 #1 Posted December 20, 2017 With the evolution of the man, with every discovery, he made he always changed his behaviour in everything he made in order to make things easier for him and to achieve his goals. But is it the case when it comes to gambling? If you're introducing a "man of luck" that gambles only believing in luck, not at odds, in the mathematics of gambling, will he change his behaviour? Is he going to change the way he plays, his strategies and maybe think twice before betting what he used to bet without blinking before? My answer would be: depends. It depends if the man wants to do it in a more calculated way, maybe more safe, or if he just wants to win big even if the loses can be big, but he'll only count on luck. I've been thinking about it and I can say that I am one of those persons who changed their behaviour when it comes to gambling. At first, I would just put some of my balance on a game, if I won, I would have been okay with it and if I lost I would have been playing until I'd go out of money or win a huge amount. (of course, there were much more times when I lost all the money than winning more) After I've got enough of losing, I started searching for odds, strategies and mathematics of gambling. I was looking for the best way to win, even if it wasn't that big as before, at least it was a win. After digging and trying every strategy I found, I guess that even if I'd want to go back and try to play just for luck I'd think twice before. I am always checking all the odds possible and try to find the best ones. I am always going for the most favourable strategy in order to win as much as possible and as safe as possible. The thing that I kept even after learning about the maths of gambling is that I'd always try to make it riskier (even if it's just 0.0001%) to get just a little more profit, just because I'm greedy and that's what mans of luck do, they are always greedy, they always try to get more than it is possible and always put on try their luck. I guess that not everyone can go through the greediness and be emotionless, but the ones that can can actually be considered robots, or at least in my perspective when I can't control myself when I'm on a losing streak and I'm almost losing everything. I am the proof of my question that if you introduce someone to the mathematics of gambling, he will indeed change his gambling behaviour. Now, if we're going to think in the perspective of the man that will play just for luck and doesn't want to hear about odds, it is a little more complicated. At first, you can't convince someone that what you're doing is right and what he's doing is wrong every time and gambling is the case. If he'd win just with luck in a day more than you'd win with a strategy (even if he had lost way more than you did before), he would still stick to his luck-strategy and won't try a more safe way. For him, a safe way to gamble is not going all-in, but nothing more than that. But if he'd be the case when he keeps losing, hoping that some luck will come and he'd see you winning, then be sure he'd ask you some tips and introducing him in maths of gambling, he would totally change his way of thinking. What about you? Are you a man of luck or a man of maths? If you're the first one, would you try to learn more about maths of gambling? If you're the second one, have you changed your behaviour in gambling since you've learned more about maths of gambling? Leave your opinion in here and tell us more about what strategies you are using, how did gambling affect your way of thinking and how did maths of gambling make you think.

I consider myself a man of luck, although mathematics certainly works too. Take at least the Martingale method, it works, but you need an impressive balance that would wait for a positive result, which not everyone has. Therefore, success in my case plays a key role. If the algorithm for dropping a bet would be known, then with the help of mathematics it would be possible to calculate the probability of loss, but this is only a probability and not a 100% result. There are many well-known mathematicians in the world and as a rule all are not too rich. If they could figure this out, all casinos would have been bankrupt long ago.
gougou Posted December 20, 2017 #3 Posted December 20, 2017 i am not good in maths so i believe more in luck, thats why i am usually loser in gambling.hope my mind will grow by itself
akki785 Posted January 20, 2018 #4 Posted January 20, 2018 I believe gambling is pure luck. Though with some good mathematics and strategies, you can actually win. But luck always decides if you cashout that profit or lose all.

Math can only help to determine things in relation to statistical analysis and probabilities regarding the game. Apart from that, there's just one simple thing to keep in mind: that being, as soon as you start betting, you're already losing.
