xtinepink Posted March 30, 2018 #1 Posted March 30, 2018 Hey everyone! When you are the only one who knows about bitcoin, sometimes it also hard to explain things about cryptocurrency to your family. They would even say that it’s scam. Sometimes we still have this area that we also do not understand things about bitcoin and altcoins, right? I am doing the best I can to let them know how it works especially to my sister whom I talk to about this stuff. I tell her by comparing things or let her watch some videos about it. How about you guys? Do you have a hard time explaining about how cryto works? How do you tell it to your friends and family?
wry Posted March 30, 2018 #2 Posted March 30, 2018 I've found the easiest way to explain it is to talk about it in terms of applications they already know. So Bitcoin is a decentralized payments network, like paypal, but no central organization. I hope this helps you. I thought this was really well done: https://blog.chain.com/a-letter-to-jamie-dimon-de89d417cb80 Good Luck!
Community Manager Stake Staff Posted March 30, 2018 Community Manager #3 Posted March 30, 2018 I have found this video funny and really, really useful too, especially for easy explaining of cryptocurrency:

Administrator Edward Posted March 30, 2018 Administrator #6 Posted March 30, 2018 "Decentralized money which can't be diluted by excessive money printing/inflation" Used to be a lot harder, but nowadays it seems everyone has seen and understood at least some information around Bitcoin

eldrindcm Posted March 31, 2018 #8 Posted March 31, 2018 I agree with French Bear, they seems not to be interested and they have their own jobs, they don't mind mine and so I don't mind theirs. They're not interested, don't waste time explaining it to them because they won't waste time trying it out. But if they ask first, why not give a shot

bmg Posted March 31, 2018 #12 Posted March 31, 2018 It really is hard to eplaine to people sometimes . in fact when Bigmann23 first introduced me to the bitcoin world it took a long time for me to even start to understand what he was talking about. The very first Bitcoin Gaming Site that i started at was about 2 years ago and i loved the vibe and the people were way cool in chat(in fact some of those people play here at Stake) but i never really thought that bitcoin was a real form of money until i hit There Biggest Jackpot 1.5Btc betting only 68 bits. i thought theres no way this is real money so i rained and tipped out about 1.2 btc that day .. hahahah bm ordered our bitpay card with the remaining winnings and thats how i found out bitcoin was no scam and was real money was when my card arrived after 2 weeks i was able to go strait to any atm or any store visa is accepted lol .. very great topic by the way Xtine kudos to u dear

SuddenlyBroke Posted March 31, 2018 #14 Posted March 31, 2018 I think with all the public exposure lately it's becoming easier and easier. My dad said to me the other day out of the blue, did you hear about the bitcoin company from Dragons Den? He was referring to some trading company that won funding on a UK investors program. It was really surprising to hear someone in my family speaking about bitcoin out of the blue. But I think the the more public exposure that happens, more and more people investigate these things for themselves and that's probabally the best way for people to learn about bitcoin.
