xtinepink Posted May 3, 2018 #1 Posted May 3, 2018 Hey stakers! Some people join ico to get the lowest price of a coin/token while others just wait on exchanges. So I wanna what’s your strategy in buying a coin or token? Is it really great when you buy it on ICO? Hope you can share your thoughts.
Kargai Posted May 4, 2018 #2 Posted May 4, 2018 It was more interesting to buy in ICO in 2017. Now the question can be ask. First it's way more difficult to buy in some ICO because they ask the KYC or they limit the sale to big investors. Second because during the bear market we had the ICO coins were ditched directly after a 2x or so and the prices fall quickly after their releases on exchange. Some coins were cheaper on exchanges than during the ICO. So I believe it depend but if the market is more bullish the ICO will be more interesting if you can deal with the KYC & co

So sometimes it is better to actually wait it for the exchange. Now the problem or the question is, will it be be available on your preferred exchange.
SuddenlyBroke Posted May 9, 2018 #4 Posted May 9, 2018 I've never bought into an ICO, I prefer to wait for the exchange to start showing what the market thinks the coins is worth. Too many shady ICO's about these days imo.

blueprints Posted May 9, 2018 #6 Posted May 9, 2018 I think it can be risky buying during ICO because what if the token or coin turns out to be trash.
Kargai Posted May 9, 2018 #7 Posted May 9, 2018 The question to ask yourself is what's the profit you want to make and how much you are willing to loose. If you want to make big bucks you need a big multiplier, like in gambling. And it's definitely in ICO because when a coin hit an exchange the price is usually 4 to 10 times bigger than in ICO. Except in a bear market where people are happy to make a 2x their investment. In that case (like said earlier) people sell fast and price on exchange can be more interresting. But "usually" it will not be the case. And if in a ICO you could make a 100x ROI, if it hit the exchange and you put the same money in it .... you'll win only 25x or 10x of ROI. It change the final result. So for the big bucks it's iCO. But it's indeed more riskybecause it's not only a matter of the viability of the project but you also need to trust them to not exit scam & co. AND you need to be way more patient. On exchange you can start making money the same day you bought, on ICO you need to wait months.
Baecon Posted May 12, 2018 #8 Posted May 12, 2018 Its too risky to buy during ICO because sometimes those coins are totally trash and useless. It will gain in the first but at the end you will just waste your money and its too late to sell it

There are many scams icos, that’s why we need to do further research about what we are investing in.
eldrindcm Posted May 13, 2018 #10 Posted May 13, 2018 Whenever I join bounties, I always immediately dump my earnings, with lower price. I learned that it's better to buy on exchanges after ICO, lower price
