shaik amaan Posted August 16, 2025 #1 Posted August 16, 2025 Have you ever watched any movies or series in the gambling genre? If yes, please recommend me some good ones to check out this sunday.

Strikera38 Posted Thursday at 05:44 PM #5 Posted Thursday at 05:44 PM Molly's Game is a solid watch if you want something based on a true story, Aaron Sorkin's dialogue makes even the poker scenes feel intense.
phanin Posted Thursday at 06:05 PM #6 Posted Thursday at 06:05 PM Molly's Game is a great shout, the poker scenes actually hit different with Sorkin's writing. Rounders is another classic if you haven't seen it, tbh it's what got a lot of people into poker back in the day.
phantdra Posted Thursday at 06:50 PM #7 Posted Thursday at 06:50 PM Rounders is a classic for sure, Matt Damon and Edward Norton kill it in that one. If you want something more recent, Uncut Gems will have you stressed out the whole time ngl.
luxori Posted Thursday at 08:19 PM #8 Posted Thursday at 08:19 PM Rounders and Uncut Gems are the two I always fall back on, they’re just so different but both nail the vibe perfectly
gladeienne Posted Thursday at 08:51 PM #9 Posted Thursday at 08:51 PM Rounders is the go-to for sure, and if you want something that’ll have you sweating through your couch, Uncut Gems is a must.
Frankiax Posted Thursday at 09:05 PM #10 Posted Thursday at 09:05 PM Uncut Gems is pure anxiety in movie form, Sandler’s best performance tbh — just don’t expect to relax at all while watching it
vycki Posted Thursday at 09:19 PM #11 Posted Thursday at 09:19 PM Rounders and Uncut Gems are both solid picks already mentioned, but if you want a series check out Kakegurui on Netflix — it’s anime but the gambling psych-outs are crazy intense.
onyxly4 Posted Thursday at 09:23 PM #12 Posted Thursday at 09:23 PM Kakegurui’s a wild ride if you don’t mind anime, the faces they make when they’re deep in a bet are something else entirely lol
ashys5 Posted Thursday at 09:29 PM #13 Posted Thursday at 09:29 PM Mississippi Grind is a hidden gem that doesn't get enough love, it's got that same gritty road-trip poker vibe but with Ben Mendelsohn absolutely owning every scene.
vorna Posted Thursday at 09:34 PM #14 Posted Thursday at 09:34 PM Uncut Gems really is two hours of straight cortisol, can't even disagree. If you want something a bit less panic-inducing but still with that seedy poker room feel, give The Cincinnati Kid a shot — old school but the final hand is legendary.
zexlia8 Posted Thursday at 09:49 PM #15 Posted Thursday at 09:49 PM Mississippi Grind is such a good call, Mendelsohn is ridiculously underrated in that one. If you end up liking that vibe, California Split is basically its 70s spiritual ancestor.
kovatha0 Posted Thursday at 11:31 PM #17 Posted Thursday at 11:31 PM man i watched mollys game with my dad once thinking it'd be boring lawyer stuff but we ended up glued to the screen the whole night the pacing in that movie sneaks up on you real quick
dosena1 Posted Friday at 12:33 AM #18 Posted Friday at 12:33 AM I finally watched Rounders last monht after hearing about it for years and it really does nail that late night basement card room vibe. The old fashioned way Matt Damon talks about poker made me laugh but it's weirdly satisfying.
clotolin5 Posted Friday at 02:41 AM #19 Posted Friday at 02:41 AM i got stuck watching "owning mahowny" late one night with a buddy and we couldnt look away, philip seymour hoffman is so good at playing a guy quietly destroying his life one bet at a time it almost makes you forget to breathe
vaelelna8 Posted Friday at 03:27 AM #20 Posted Friday at 03:27 AM If you want something a bit less obvious than Rounders, Owning Mahowny is worth it just to watch Hoffman drain the life out of every scene while he chases his own doom at the track. It's not flashy at all, just a quiet spiral taht feels too real.
phantelan Posted Friday at 03:53 AM #21 Posted Friday at 03:53 AM Molly's Game. Sorkin dilogue keeps it moving.
wrenixeon14 Posted Friday at 04:17 AM #22 Posted Friday at 04:17 AM Mississippi Grind has this really sun bleached road trip energy where the gambling almost feels secondary to the friendship falling apart, definitely a different pace for a Sunday watch.
senioruser Posted Friday at 05:55 AM #23 Posted Friday at 05:55 AM rounders is the goat no cap, ed norton kills it in that one ?
meriaenda Posted Friday at 10:23 AM #24 Posted Friday at 10:23 AM honestly i prefer rounders over mollys game by a mile. mollys game feels too polished and fast talking for me, rounders just has that gritty card room atmosphere that feels real even when its corny. worm is such a scumbag but you cant look away lol
legacyynna Posted Friday at 01:50 PM #25 Posted Friday at 01:50 PM Mississippi Grind hiits different from Rounders because it focuses on the slow burn of a losing streak rather than the card table heroics, and that feels more honest to me. Rounders might have the iconic scenes but I would rather rewatch that lazy, desperate chemistry between Mendelsohn and Reynolds any Sunday.
