FotisNt Posted December 1, 2018 #1 Posted December 1, 2018 Hello stakers, do you think that gambling needs skills or just pure luck? In my opinion you need much more skills than luck to have profits. You can be lucky anytime but if you do not own those '' gambling skills '' I guess you will lose much more.
Caligula6 Posted December 1, 2018 #2 Posted December 1, 2018 In my opinion, both are lucky and skillfully try to look for patterns and luck to hit hehe
chrisconn63 Posted December 1, 2018 #3 Posted December 1, 2018 in my expert degen opinion id have to say its 99%luck 1% skill. the 1% skill is from the stragey category. where yes certain strategy's like switching games and changing seeds and things like that may help you win but you still need just luck to make that strategy work like you hope. its all about luck luck luck
wyj1306 Posted December 1, 2018 #4 Posted December 1, 2018 Besides skill and luck, the main thing is patience. What most makes us lose money is to be greedy, wanting to win everything at once, if you have the patience to wait for the right chance, then yes it would need some luck and skill. Why some are more lucky, and others have more skill haha

try7dlyk Posted December 1, 2018 #6 Posted December 1, 2018 on online gambling you need both skills and luck.
irawk0 Posted December 1, 2018 #7 Posted December 1, 2018 I'd say it differs for each game. For plinko/diamond poker it's almost 100% luck I'd say. For games like Hilo/blackjack/Keno it could be as much as like 50% skill 50% luck. For gambling in general? 1% skill 99% luck 😛 That is only if each game is verifiably fair like Stake.
davinmark Posted December 1, 2018 #8 Posted December 1, 2018 Hmm i think gambling needs a strategy, so u wont bust easily but the rest is about luck.
jualid Posted December 1, 2018 #9 Posted December 1, 2018 I think it's depend on the game. You need some skills too on game like poker and for other games it's like 99% luck and 1% skills imo.
TKO Posted December 1, 2018 #10 Posted December 1, 2018 Interesting choice of words I must say. Luck and "skill". More than 'skill' one requires awareness. One requires understanding and the ability to weight risk vs gain. Most of the gamblers bust/lose most because of the greed. The ability to suppress that greed and cashout while ahead is what is most important in gambling I think. Of course, luck plays a BIG role as well. But if one plays sensibly, they can almost always make profit and cashout when in profit. One, while gambling, must always think of the other side. We usually think "If I hit this I will be in soooo much profit. I'll cashout for sure" and then we think "So what if I lose this? Doesn't matter much. Its all in or nothing I guess." But we never think of the toll it will have on our emotions if we lose. Its all about weighting the risk and gain and seeing if it's really worth it. Good luck!
DreamStage Posted December 1, 2018 #11 Posted December 1, 2018 In my history i've learned that you will only learn from experience. you will need to know when you will be able to bet HIGH value or with a very low strategy profit (higher chances). You need to know your seed (rolls) you need to be aware of your betting rolls logic / pattern. If you see you get alot of reds it will eventually pop a nice green for you. Just check some videos from some pros out there.
Etude Posted December 1, 2018 #12 Posted December 1, 2018 I believe you will need both skills and luck when it comes to gambling and also what game is being played. Games where complex decision needs to be made such as poker definitely requires skills and luck while I don't think one can have much skills in games such as slots, right? 🤔

Depends on what game you choose. All games have a way of playing + luck each, most are also effective games when using Strategy. For example: I really like Chartbet, I use 60% Strategy + 30% luck + 10% Patience
kayke94 Posted December 1, 2018 #14 Posted December 1, 2018 naaaah its just totally about luck this has nothing to do woth skills according to me
Mahdirakib87 Posted December 1, 2018 #15 Posted December 1, 2018 Both are essential for a successful gambler. Skill and luck both important. Firstly you need to be lucky. And you have to make the best use of your luck by your skill. If you played for a long time attentively you might gain the skill of gambling. You need to learn some pattern a well guess power sometimes it called luck. But greediness kill us always. Skill doesn't work when we loss our control.
hillowner45 Posted December 1, 2018 #16 Posted December 1, 2018 Skill is definitely involved in gambling in managing your balance and sizing your bets appropriately. Also, being able to stop at a profit and having the self control to accept a loss are definitely under the definition of "skill". But in the end the biggest factor that contributes whether you profit or lose in the end is luck. Nothing you can do to modify it. All the seed changes and pre-rolls can only get you so far.
williamshennie9 Posted December 1, 2018 #17 Posted December 1, 2018 It is definitely a combination of the two. Blackjack, for example, definitely requires some skill, but at the same time, is largely determined by luck. Games like diamond poker and dice are 100% luck (unless you're applying statistics and chasing losses - then skill is involved).
Sefan Posted December 1, 2018 #18 Posted December 1, 2018 I don't believe in luck, but still for some games luck is your only option. But with games like poker and blackjack i think that its mostly skill that will decide if you will win or lose.
Snike Posted December 1, 2018 #19 Posted December 1, 2018 99% luck 1% skill. If the casino is fair and legit you need a lot of luck but for games like on stake hilo you will need a little skill!
Sefan Posted December 1, 2018 #20 Posted December 1, 2018 4 minutes ago, blurrijs said: There is no skill in gambling, just get lucky. Some games like poker and blackjack do require skill though, and you can't win with just getting lucky, or maybe you can once out of 1000 tries what is luck though, can you explain that xD, on google it says luck is success or failure apparently brought by chance rather than through one's own actions, aka its your own actions that in the end is what you call luck.
Moderator Flan Posted December 1, 2018 Moderator #21 Posted December 1, 2018 Absolutely luck. All of the roll are random, you just being lucky by using your strategy. You can depend on your strategy, and some people doesn't. Some games really need a skill, for example like Blackjack, but it was a pure luck when it comes to decide what should you pick. It can be ten numbers, or your desired number. Only if you want to try some skill on gambling, you can try it at sport betting which mean your skill on analyzing the team performance. You can predict those, but only like 30% was a luck. It's not totally luck, but it was really fixed percentage to see.
xtinepink Posted December 2, 2018 #22 Posted December 2, 2018 I would go for both. I just thought that gambling is luck and skills. Sometimes we have our luck days, by having our small balances into big ones. At the same time it is also skills, we play different games with different approach for each games, like when we play small bb first in like hundreds of rolls then try to go higher as we roll higher. Sometimes we take some timing as when to go roll for high bets.
verified Posted December 2, 2018 #23 Posted December 2, 2018 My skill is that I usually play first with 0sat and 100 rolls then I begin to bet. I feel less of a loss and more profits
Jakubb Posted December 2, 2018 #24 Posted December 2, 2018 Im not gonna lie, really depends in the game and the mindset.. for exp.. you need a lot of skill to play games such as poker etc. And for another example you don't need much skill to autobet on mines for some good multiplier? Aren't I'm right?
reyar Posted December 2, 2018 #25 Posted December 2, 2018 in my opinion ,, you have that both, but not all day your skill be must go on ,, because later on always you bust if you play longer,
