A misconception with HiLo

Hey everyone :)

So I have noticed that many people seem to be misled in this game, specifically when it comes to cashing out. I often see people say (after they have already cashed out), damn the next card was a K! If only I went High! These users base this "K" on the opening start card. However, I want to clarify that the start card has nothing to do with what the next card would have been in the sequence.

The only possible way to view the next card in the sequence would be to change the seed, and then view the card sequence for your bet. Dan confirmed that the provably fair part of HiLo starts only from the second card onwards. The start card can be chosen by you (hence that is why HiLo bots allow you to choose the start card - because you have a choice as to what it is). This start card is an arbitrary card which has no correlation to your previous bet, and hence cannot possibly be "the next card had I played on".

I hope this thread gives clarity to all HiLo players, and well as more insight into the provably fair aspect behind it :) Did anyone know this, or is this new information for those of you reading? I would love you all to share your thoughts on this matter, as I see many people still believing that the start card would have been the next card...

I did not really know this. I have seen the "reroll start card" button, and clicked it a few times a few days ago, I've seen what it does, but somehow I totally forgot all about it...

Thanks for the reminder/information @williamshennie9! It's very timely, too, with the current running Hilo challenge! 😁👍

what the fuck is the preroll start card? i'm going to have to look into this.

i was unaware of this, myself, although it was mentioned to me in a wayward manner yesterday.

I used to be one that thought the next base card would have been my last but recently had seen it somewhere and it makes sense. I guess in the end it really wouldn't matter what it was anyways because the game would be done but would always be cool to see what it would have been.

Well I have to say I thought everyone already knew this , you can place a bet a still change the first card for the best payout , only on the first card though . I like Hilo but get frustrated when sometimes it goes against every bet I place , somtimes I go with logical sense , for example if it’s a low starting card I wil go high but I also try my luck going the opposite way , if it’s a two I might try lower for The ace then I cash out lol I’m no expert at Hilo though ❤️

Well its just common sense in my opinion if a person doesn't know that the starting card has nothing to do with the rest of the game. But i guess there are some new players who would need this clarification so thanks for that william :)

To my surprise as well, there are many old players who stillthink that the start card of the next game would have been their next card had they continued playing.
