Stevenwonder Posted March 21, 2020 #1 Posted March 21, 2020 I was having a discussion with a friend the other day about blackjack and he told me something he always does that i first thought sounded stupid but then I realized was actually smart. We all know that the A is the worst card that a dealer can reveal on top for their hand. Not only do they try to scare us into thinking we need to protect ourselves with insurance, but it is also what I like to call the “get out of jail free card” because they can make a mistake with an ace and it’s such a hard card to bust out on. But that leads me to this...what’s the second scariest card? Many people would say anything with the value of 10 and while that may be a terrible thing to see, it’s not scary. With stakes infinite deck, we know the % of a card that will resolve the dealers play underneath a ten is 58.3%, with a 33.3% chance of it being 20, 41.6% of being 19 or 20, and 50% chance of it being 18 or higher. (Circle back to 58.3% to include 17) These % are taking the 4 aces and dividing into 48 since the dealer resolves play immediately on non-insurance opportunity blackjacks. All that being said, since we know the percentages, the 2nd worst card with the most avenues is the 2. They call it the dealers wild. My friend asked me if I ever split twos and I said no because that seemed dumb but I realized, that it is a card I should start splitting for the same reason I hate seeing the dealer have it. A 4 is a terrible starting hand anyway so why not take the shot? And he splits it vs everything. So I started doing it and the results have been pretty significantly favorable. I’ve actually kept more bitcoin using two hands out of it than playing just the one. Sure you double your bet by splitting but I found that playing the extra hand nets me more money. I did the stats and I was pretty shocked. To keep it fair I counted 12 of my 4’s to the 6 splits to make 12 hands and on the 12 4’s I lost 8 won 3 and pushed 1 and on the split won 5 lost 5 pushed 2. So no net loss on the split -5 keeping it a 4. So the next time you start with 2’s try splitting. If it is a dealer Wild, make it wild for yourself!
cryptonesiac Posted March 21, 2020 #2 Posted March 21, 2020 Nice stats, Steven! I might have a go again on Blackjack, haven't played that in a while
sahil777 Posted March 22, 2020 #3 Posted March 22, 2020 very nice and informative post by steven, thanks man for sharing this wonderfull idea, i hope i will apply this in my next blackjack game, though i dont like to insure because i always like to take chance, but i will do if you are playing like that.
Ali saher Posted March 22, 2020 #4 Posted March 22, 2020 I really not know so much about blackjack even I don't know about winning and losing cards. I just play few time this game. I think this is good information and this information give me some help to learn about blackjack game.
Dp10011 Posted March 23, 2020 #5 Posted March 23, 2020 Now I have confirmed why I hate it so much when I see the dealer showing a 2 on the starting card. With a 2, the dealer has a much better chance of drawing cards and getting a good score. I am very unlucky when I have 2 and 10. Because there are always 10 more for me, completing 22 points in the hand and losing the game. The dealer hardly overtakes with a 2, even though he has 12 points, he almost never leaves another 10 for him.
chridz429 Posted March 23, 2020 #6 Posted March 23, 2020 whenever the dealer's show's ace in his card i always go for insurance you can still get half of your bet if you win and that's not bad at all.
BidaManEris Posted March 29, 2020 #7 Posted March 29, 2020 I'd say, just stick to the basic rules. You have already mentioned that the game has an infinite amount of decks being shuffled for every card laid upon you so there is no point trying to veer away from the traditional strategy that this game already has. Tbh 2 and 3 is a fair card. There's already a post here about split statistics. You might want to check the other threads.
Tushi Posted March 31, 2020 #8 Posted March 31, 2020 Many restaurant owners implement a tip splitting system between servers and supporting staff. While the servers are the main point of contact for the restaurant patron, good service cannot be delivered without the help of other staff members.
TONI777 Posted April 4, 2020 #9 Posted April 4, 2020 Thank you for letting me know about this actually! I play loads of blackjack so information like this definitely helps
Aiza824 Posted April 5, 2020 #10 Posted April 5, 2020 2 and 3 are good for splitting. They are like your medium-high grade cards that you can have on your hand- even professional Blackjack players already agreed to this if you do a little research. Just be wary if the dealer's hand is at 8's to 10's and A's. I would rather just take a hit. The basic strategy would say so- better to be safe than sorry!
ktv Posted January 22, 2021 #12 Posted January 22, 2021 Had a friend of mine who used to deal blackjack. She's called the 2's her "little aces"
FlunkenR Posted January 22, 2021 #13 Posted January 22, 2021 This is just being results oriented. You have had luck with a bad play and are now justifying that because you made profit splitting 2’s it is now a good play. Math say that you don’t split 2’s against a 10. You WILL be losing more than you are supposed to in The Long run by doing what you suggest... Bad idea...
ktv Posted January 22, 2021 #14 Posted January 22, 2021 I should have been a bit more clear. She referred to 2's as her little aces, meaning that if her first card was a 2, she made a ton of hands. Splitting anything except aces vs. 10-K is insanity.
phivedeadphish Posted January 22, 2021 #15 Posted January 22, 2021 Interesting line of thought. But I think vs dealer 9 or 10 you're increasing variance too much. Probably just add it into your game as a standard split spot vs 456 and maybe 7 and A
