Side effects of Gambling

Am going to start with a story of gambling  that am aware of..

Years ago, a friend of me told me  that he would never wish that he see a casino any where, and I asked him why cause we had just passed one, he told me a story about his uncle.

His uncle had a good job, and he had promotions after the other, then one day , he realized he needed some fun , he was rich now, he had bought cars and homes, beautiful homes, then he passed the same casino we  had gone through, and he decided why not get in and check out whats happening , that was the end of everything, the moment he started, , he stopped when he gambled everything including his house.

so what are the side effects of gambling;

1. Loss of property , you might lose everything if you dont have self control

2. Waste of time

3. The house always win,

4. Depression

5. Loss of friends and family believe me when you are a gambler , very few people love associating with you. and that is not a good thing.

The sollution to all this.

1. Stop before you start, thats the only one I know that is effective.

2. If one has not stopped you, then make sure you make it fun, dont gamble to gain wealth, but let be fun, and you dont play around with serious stuff like your home , cars or even properties.

3. Seek help if you are addicted, its good you talk to someone who can help you.

4. Keep yourself busy and train yourself to have other kind of games and hobbies that will keep you out of a casino.

All in all Gambling is not bad for you as a person if its a way to have fun and you are responsible, never use more than 1% of what you own inside a casino, always keep everything low, you know when to stop and leave.

By the way there are people who are making money from a casino, its their business.

Thank you everyone and God bless you and keep you safe.

It's depend on how you control your gambling..if you keep playing while continously losing I guess you will end up bankrupt really..

Control is illusory. It is already a scientific phenomenon where if you keep on constantly doing your addictive habit (gambling is one of the prime example), it will only fuel more urge for you to gamble more over time- a deadly spiral. Bankruptcy is even inevitable not just because of the house edge or luck but also because of you losing a lot of precious time gambling than doing something productive.

Gambling gives mental pressure. Sleepless night sometimes. People says they get fun from it but finally it's full of depression. You said some ways of overcame that situation. But it's hard to stop gambling addiction.

Most importantly is self control, if you feel frustated when you lose it's common but take a rest for a while, don't play continously after that make you depression. One key, gamble with money that you can afford to lose.

You friend's uncle was too much addicted which was a bad thing because he sacrificed everything for gambling. You should treat gambling as hobby or some sideline.

Yes I too feel the truth about gambling.. gambling is not for income source. So don't trust on gamble and don't invest full of your money on it... That what I learnt from my 5years of gamble mind-set..

The game is a dangerous tool. Few can maintain a good conscience while playing.
Self-control is everything. But it doesn't exist in a player! He usually plays until he loses everything and then some.
In this environment, greed speaks the loudest. At least I don't know any players who got rich and retired.

Great post man, I've experienced loads of these side effects and I'm glad there's someone to spread awareness about this. I can not stress this enough: ONLY GAMBLE WHAT YOU CAN AFFORD TO LOSE!

I have never lost any items like you wrote above, instead I can get a lot of money and can buy things that I really want, but I keep trying to control myself so that I don't use my money all to gamble.

To be honest this really sucks. We see on and on again that gambling can lead you to huge losses if you don't have self control etc, but you never really know how much self control you have until you get yourself inside the casino, and most importantly once you start losing money.

You should never gamble with money you can't afford to lose. Say you don't care about 1 to 2% of your salary then go ahead gamble that, but don't redeposit until you get the next. If you keep depositing in that same month itself, you are more likely to keep doubling trying to make it back using about 25% to 50% of what you have. It can really go bad once you continue to play. Therefore, depositing later would help you cool off, and you'd be like eh what the heck its just 1% I was anyway going to spend on some food or something.

Bottom line, I think its probably the worst if no one knows that you are gambling, and you sneak off behind your family or friends to do so. That case no one can help you but yourself, so if you're addicted and have no self control things will end very badly. I think it's bets you tell a close friend, before you even start, at least then he may be able to help you or find help for you! :)

There have certainly been times for me when I have spent more than I should have. The most disappointing gambling moment in my life was winning roughly $17,000 and losing 95% of it within 4 days. Just thinking about it makes me sick to my stomach and it happens when Bitcoin was peaking around 20k. It's funny when your balance is displayed in Bitcoin how much easier it can be to spend it without realizing it
