What are you currently reading?

Some might know that i'm a bookworm. I read around 50-60 books a year, own probably around 1000+ books and had read more than that.

I'm always interested to made some new discoveries so I start this thread for you to share what's your favorite readings ever or what you are currently reading. Feed my braaaaaaaaaain !

Currently i'm reading a really fascinating book, full of great insights, called "The Rise of Superman: Decoding the Science of Ultimate Human Performance" by Steven Kotler. The Rise of Superman is full of scientific explanations about why flow helps athletes perform at their peak, why this is on the upswing in recent decades, and how almost anybody can better tap their ultimate potential.

Difficult to choose a favorite one since i like to read about multiples subjects (neuroscience, history, biography, fantasy, comics, self development, diet, sports, asian culture, ...) but some have marked or shaped me over the years :

• The Dark Tower cycle by Stephen King
• Lord of the Rings by Tolkien
• Losing my Virginity, the autobiography of Richard Branson
• The monk who sold his Ferrari by Robin Sharma
• The Book of Tea by Okakura Kakuzō 
• The Art of War by Sun Tzu
• Meditations by Marcus Aurelius
• Man's search for meaning by Viktor Frankl
• Total Recall, biography of Arnold Schwarzenegger
• Walden by Henry David Thoreau
• The China Study by T. Colin Campbell

... just to name a few.

Don't know if we have a lot of readers here, but if it's the case ...

I'm currently into reading dystopian and SciFi novels. I don't have a favorite one, but I loved "Brave New World" by Aldous Huxley, and I'm currently reading "Maze Runner" by James Dashner.

 

Looking forward to seeing what other users like to read.

I read "Farenheit 451" by Ray Bradbury not so long ago (great book). I had read "Running Man" by S.King "Brave New World" already but it was like ...15 years ago, i forget a lot about it, I probably need to re-read it  I must have "The road" and "1984" somewhere in a box but still didn't found the time to read them.

I truly enjoyed reading "1984" and "Animal Farm". I would definitely recommend them.  I haven't read "Fahrenheit 451", but I'm planning to in the near future. There are just sooo many books to read. Don't know from where to start.

For sure I don't have so many books as you because we have a Facebook group where we use to trade our books for new books or even sell it cheaper to help those that want to read but can't afford buying it for the normal price, but I also love reading..

Actually I am reading Fifty Shades Freed (can't wait until February to know how Anastasia and Christian story gonna end ). Before I was reading a collection launched by a Brazilian magazine that teaches how to use the power of massages, crystals, colors, flowers, candles, meditation, mirrors (among others) in our lives.

If I'd have to pick only 1 book from all the books I did read, I guess I would pick "Eleven Minutes", Paulo Coelho. Paulo Coelho is an amazing seller with 34 published books in the past 40 years. His book "The Alchemist" (which is pretty good as well) is in the best-selling books in history and has been translated into 81 different languages, winning the Guinness World Record for most translated book by a living author.

I also loved reading The Da Vince Code and Angels & Demons, Dan Brown.

I've read both of those written by Coelho, but I definitely prefer "The Alchemist".  And when it comes to "The Da Vinci Code", did you maybe do some research before reading the novel? I tried to read that book, but it way too difficult for me to understand.  @Carollzinha

No research.. I grew up inside the Catholic church, was part of the Bible reading team, youth group leader, catechism teacher so it was quite easy for me to understand.. I also did watch the movies first and only then I wanted to check the boooks

@Carollzinha @Katarina & @kurian (korean Dan Brown fan confirmed) : I read "Da Vinci Code" last year too, was a nice one. After that one i decided to add more Dan Brown in my wishlist but don't have read any other since that.

Same with Paulo Coelho, "The Alchemist" is really nice I re-read the book every 2-3 years. I also read "By the River Piedra I Sat Down and Wept", "The Zahir" (reading it right now),"Manuscript Found in Accra" & "The Pilgrimage" but they are lot less impactful.

For those who like "The Alchemist", i can recommend you "The prophet" by Kalid Gibran and "Siddartha" by Herman Hesse. They are a nice triptych (one more catholic oriented, the other more muslim, the 3rd more buddhist).

I love to read books. Currently i read "Fallen" series by  Lauren Kate. they are very nice, i like it very much. 

what i love most from all books i read is "Pride and Prejudice" by Jane Austen.

Yeah The Alchemist is really good, I really liked it..

Just finished "Finders Keepers" by Stephen King. I had read all the bibliography of King (absolutely everything) and i still read every new book he publish (1 to 3 a year).

This one is pretty good, i like how King turned from a horror style to thriller over the years. It's the 2nd book of a trilogy around his main character Bill Hodges.

Geisha's Memoirs by Arthur Golden, it's a great book about the tough life of Sayuri after the WWII.

The Green Mile is really great you'll not be disappointed, i liked it when i read it in the 90's. I'm a huge fan of Stephen King, I read all his books until now.

The book fairy seem decent enough, i'm sure you had found some interesting books there

Just finished "The Zahir" by Paulo Coelho.

@Carollzinha with her post make me remember that I had this one in my box of 200+ more unreaded books, so it was the excuse to read it

Not bad at all, even if not of the same level of "The Alchemist". But not so far neither, i really enjoyed the reading and the questions who came as the story unfolds.
